Jone's Deal with Nike is worth 20k per year

On this week's The MMA Hour, Ariel Helwani reported an utterly baffling figure about Jon Jones' deal with Nike. According to Helwani's source, Jones is not getting Anderson Silva money from Nike, he's getting McDonald's money - not sponsorship from McDonalds, but burger flipping at McDonalds money.

"Congratulations to Jon Jones for signing that big deal with Nike," said Helwani. "According to Dana White he will be dressed in Nike from head to toe. Come September 1st, he will be wearing Nike, inside the Octagon...

"He is not the first guy, to have the swoosh on him in a fight of course. Anderson Silva was representing Nike when he fought Chael Sonnen. But this is a different kind of deal.

"This is a global deal. This is the first North American fighter to be sponsored by Nike

terms of the deal haven't been disclosed just yet

"What I heard from one source, just one, was that it was a one year deal worth $20,000. "

AHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA THE NEW FACE OF MMA?! rofl.gif

Chael is gonna smash this broke fool.

It's gotta be worth more than that. I thought I read somewhere that the fighters are paid up to $10,000 to wear sponsors on their shorts. There is no way a company as massive as Nike are only paying $20,000 a year to Jones. I would be willing to bet its more along the lines of $2,000,000-$4,000,000.

You?re the one who mentioned politics, not me. Way to go keyboard warrior... You can?t seriously mean that their angling of all the the things that they find newsworthy is fair and balanced as the news are supposed to be? Are you seriously that close minded? Anyway, my point was that you can?t just make stuff up and get away with it, just as FOX news do...

Here is my thoughts (Note this is completely made up scenario with no credible proof) First off there is the obvious the source is lying and he is making a lot more which is more then likely. My other idea is maybe Nike is just making sure he is going to stay dominant for a while. So say he stays champ the first year and proves he is not going anywhere they dramatically increase the pay.

There's no way he would sign a deal for 20K a year. That's not true. Mid-level Radio personalities make more money just endorsing products yearly. I'm willing to bet it was 2 million a year.

Can you not read, its 20k, just because you like Jon Jones doesn't mean its 2 million lawl

huggers these days......

If there's any truth to Nike's pathetic endorsment fee to Jones' date=' then what does that tell you about how some multi-million dollar company look down on the sport of MMA?? Are they saying this is a poor man's sport? Oh, the condescension!! :([/quote']

no they just realize that Jones sucks
