Leiting Posted August 23, 2012 Report Share Posted August 23, 2012 If BJ Penn spent his entire career training as intensely and as disciplined as GSP, I genuinely believe he would have ultimately dethroned Hughes (again) and beaten GSP. He'd also be an easy candidate for GOAT, and likely never would have lost after the Machida fight. He had incredible gifts, quite honestly might have been the most naturally talented fighter I've ever seen. But he never seemed to have the mental discipline of a world champion caliber athlete - he got there on raw skill and some dedication. But, GSP trains harder than most anyone in MMA. I've never heard anyone dispute that George is a workhorse in the gym. So to take Penn's natural gifts and give him George's tenacity, it would be a near unstoppable fighter.
