Jones had months of physical preparation and conditioning, Machida would only have 3 weeks before fight week 3. Chael said himself yesterday, he'd even go in there just to take one for the team (ufc). Machida feels that he genuinely can beat Jon Jones. It would be his second and arguably last shot for a long time to come at doing so. I can't blame him for wanting to have a full quality preparation for this fight. Do you really think he is ducking Sonnen? Jones is stronger & in my opinion way better at wrestling than Sonnen. Remember, Jones also "ducked" Rashad until he beat him. Sonnen doesn't deserve a shot & even Dana knows it or else Sonnen would be fighting Jones Sept 22 & NOT VITOR. He said he would fight Sonnen on the 22nd. So yeah, he has everything to lose by taking a risky shorter camp for this fight, EVERYTHING. Besides, he should have never have been put into that position in the first place, as Jones should have been a champ and faced Sonnen. For millionth time, JONES HELD ALL THE ADVANTAGES TAKING THE SONNEN FIGHT! He says and his fans talk about not enough preperation time for Sonnen and it being risky, well what about the fact that Sonnen would have had no time to prepare for the champ?
