I dunno I just think it has become a media trend since the theater shootings' date=' either way these things should be reported.[/quote']

You're correct. Reported, not sensationalized. If I had a dollar for every time I heard the term copy cat after the Colorado shooting, I wouldnt have to work for awhile.

It's serious business these days I guess. What ever happened to the days of honor and a good ole bout of fisticuffs over disagreements?

Mate those days are long gone, if it's not weapons it's a group of guys attacking one guy there is no such thing as a fair fight now.

When I was 18 me and two of my mates got into it with three other lads they were older think they were 24-26, next week we see them again and they bought us a pint each and we all had a laugh about it. No chance that would happen now.

Mate, on a serious note, we moved from England after both my step sons and a neighbours kid were robbed and threatened, on different occasions, by gangs, at knife point, all within the same week.

I realised that, short of watching over them 24/7, which would be impossible to do, the only way i could keep them safe was to move away. I left behind a business that i had built up for twenty years plus all my friends and family to move to Canada which is where my wife is from.

We didn't quite move away from society, Canada's not that bad, but its as safe as houses here.

It was really hard at first but now, i wouldn't go back for the world.

A bit off topic but, ther you go..:)

Very smart thing to do.

Sometimes the best places to live aren't where you can make the most money or have the most convenience.

I've always prefered the country to the city areas.

pretty much this

shouldn't shock anyone

USA is one of the greatest countries in the world, however it continues to shoot itself in the foot with one of the largest crime rates. why? gun control

you control guns like canada and have free health care, you have a country that won't be the black eye anymore.

I disagree. Continued efforts to lower educational standards on all fronts is the real problem. I have handled firearms pretty much since I was knee high to a grasshopper and barring my military service, do you know how many people I've shot? None! But then again I've attended firearms and hunting safety course for the better part of 2 decades and would consider myself fairly educated in most subjects.

Statistically speaking an American is 8 times more likely to be killed by a police officer than a terrorist. It seems to me like we(Americans) are targeting the wrong enemy...

I was telling Leonie some time back that I've had guns pointed at me twice (maybe a third time but I can't remember if they had weapons drawn)

1 time in a robbery at a poker game

1 time by a swarm of law enforcement (wrong place wrong time)

I was easily an order of magnitude more terrified when the cops drew down on me even though I had done nothing wrong.

in all honesty nothing will work...people will die from guns in America no matter what we do...just a fact. gun control wont work' date=' education wont work...nothing will, if you feel we can eliminate gun violence your just in denial or straight ignorant[/quote']

Well, it's like this...

Does having a laptop make me a hacker?

Does having a car make me a getaway driver?

Does having a lighter make me an arsonist?

Only if I choose to be.

The guy who started the trouble was the one with the gun. Anyone who needs a weapon to feel like a man is a coward it's that simple, if you don't think you can take someone in a fist fight then you shouldn't start trouble.

Aye Kev, But you are but a small % of the population. I am betting many people with little or no gun education or education straight up for that matter still carry.

It's hard for people who have had the right to bare arms have it taken away but it would be a step. Only issue is criminals would still be packing.

I see what your saying and agree but did you see the event? Maybe one guy was hella small and did not want to fight and the other fella was some Tank Abbot type. Beat him for a while then the little fella had enough and shot him. Not saying that is what happened but ya never know.

The problem with that is the smaller guy will be the one who started the fight, like I said the guy who started the trouble is the one who pulled the gun. That's why he is a coward he went looking for trouble then decided he was going to pull his gun.
