Seriously people.....Chael Sonnen?

I have yet to see anybody explain how Chael deserves this title shot. Do we keep giving him shots at the best fighters in the world just because he keeps running his mouth? He just got KO'd in the 2nd round at 185, does that earn him a shot at 205? Really?

If anyone can make an argument that Chael deserved this shot, please, let me hear your reasoning.

Because he had the balls to take it when no one else would.

Jones declined like a *****.

End of story. When you are offering title shot and can't find a person who is deserving that will accept it, you gotta take the next best thing. The person that can make you the most money that will take it.

Maybe Sonnen's manic dissing of fighters has finally come back to bite him in the ***? And no, you don't HAVE to take the next best thing, if you HAD to take the next best thing Jones would have. He didn't take it so obviously he didn't HAVE to.

Well, that's kinda my point. Was Chael really the 'next best thing'? I sure don't think so. And why didn't they just offer the fight at 151 to Machida and Vitor? Obviously Machida would've declinded, but maybe Vitor wouldn't have.

Because Jon Jones is a *****.

Or because he decided Sonnen didn't deserve the shot, which he doesn't. Or for any number of other reasons actually. Jones has fought the best of the best and will continue to do so. And so far he has beat the best of the best handily so calling him a ***** or a ducker or anything else like that is completely illogical. The fact is you don't actually know why he turned it down and speculating then presenting it as fact should be below you. Unless you're just a blind hater, which I never pegged you for before.

they did offer it to Machida first but he was in a country to a connecting flight to Brazil....He wouldn't have enough time to even get back let alone prepare for Jones. ANd yea he would of declined either way.

Vitor was prob a last resort thing.

no, we do know why he turned it down because he and Jackson said it...because they wanted more time to train for Sonnen, which is ****ing rediculous imo.

your a champ let alone a fighter, you have had a full training camp to fight on that date, i don't give a **** who steps in there you should be ready to fight.

In other sports you don't get more than a weeks time to find a strategy for your next opponent, why should MMA be any different. I could see if Jones was taking time off but he was in peak physical condition.

Blind hater huh? Don't know me very well do ya?

We know exactly why, Greg Jackson confirmed every bit of it. SCARED! Of Chael Sonnen of ALL people LMAO. Not because Sonnen didn't deserve the shot, that never even come up.

"Taking on a fighter of his caliber on 8 days notice would be the worst thing you ever done in your career."

DUCK!!!

Deserve has nothing to do with it. Jones' job is to fight whoever they put in front of him, legend or can. He's lucky he doesn't have to fight 3 or 4 times in one night like the old school guys did. For now it seems Jones only wants to fight guys who were in their primes 10+ years ago. All of the accolades, none of the risk.

Well that brings up another question - why didn't they offer Chael the fight at 152, especially after all the hype that followed JBJ turning down the fight? That would've made it an easily marketable fight with a lot of hype behind it. The answer is simple - the UFC knows that offering Chael the fight in the first place was a knee-jerk reaction and an act of desperation, and they know Chael doesn't deserve a shot.

One other question - I saw a rumor that Silva offered to take Hendo's place. If that actually happened, do you think the UFC would decline the fight because they'd want more time to hype it up?

1. Dana said that time has passed and SOnnen was a quick replacement and prob the only one they could find on such short notice.

2. Machida, SHogun, and Vitor all deserve it more than Sonnen and thats why they were given the opportunity first now that there was time for them to train.

3. Sonnen was prob the only one willing to take the fight on such short notice.

4. Silva never offered to take Hendo's place. He said he would fight another LHW in the main event to try and save the card. He said anyone but Jones.

Well' date=' we don't really know that, do we? We have no idea if anyone else was offered the fight before Sonnen. And if he was Dana's first choice, you really gotta wonder why.[/quote']

yes we do know that... Dana has came out and said he offered the fight to a few others and `1tey said no

and how does Vitor deserve it more... he was fighting at MW lost to Silva, then beat someone whose 0-4 in his last 4 fights then beats someone whose not even a top MW if anything he should have to fight a LHW like Sonnen is doing and earn the shot

you just said it....

Vitor who lost to Silva then went on a 2 fight win streak deserves it more than Sonnen who lost to Silva 2 fight win streak then lost to silva again.

Also doesn't help he's coming off of a loss.

No one claimed he deserved it not even Dana but he knew this guy will put his *** on the line on a moments notice just like real champions should do.

Chael might not be a champion but he has a champions heart and more brass in his one ball than most fighters have in both.
