Rampage & King Mo on Chael, Greg Jackson etc

Definitely agree with Rampage when he said that referees need to stand up fighters much more quickly who are not actively attacking via submission or punching.

Agreed aslong as it's fair due to in activity and not too ridiculously quick like Belfort vs Johnson.. I watch GSP, Fitch etc blanket people boring me to death for 5 minutes a time and no standups happen, in that fight it was clear they wanted Johnson to get killed on the feet and gave him no chance at all when he got him down. (Even though I like Belfort)

Well theat was a cool *** watch man ,made me smile,i like seeing fighters get along and laugh a bit.

There is something Rampage does not understand as MANY do not understand.

When you have a mainly striking match ,unless one fighter or both are super sloppy and slow, you will NOT have any better fight, just guys moving and dodging and throwing air strikes.Eventually they come together then the grab on and hold on and nothing happens.

The other thing is that you cannot have faster stand ups because it grossly favors the guy who is a plug and got taken down. You enter the sport of MMA ,you NEED to be well versed ,NOT a one dimensional fighter. Also the guy who is taking down the other guy is using 100x more energy and effort, you stand him up,he will be very tired. This is why they DO deserve a minute or so to catch their wind after the take down. You do NOT reward the guy who gets taken down for lack of skills,

One more point on Rampage's comment.MMA was NOT built on striking, the Gracies made it and they were about grappling,so he needs to go back a bit further and check his routes.

If it is the case where a fighter takes his opponent down and just lays on top of him and not being active, then yes I think referees should do a better job of noticing these things and standing fighters up. However, this isn't kickboxing and this isn't boxing; everyone in pro MMA, especially the UFC, should understand that just because they are mainly stand up fighters, doesn't mean they should lack skill in their ground game. By quickly standing fighters up, you're basically awarding the guy who just got taken down.

As long as there is activity on the ground and/or the "chess match" for position is ongoing it should stay grounded, but we've all seen matches where someone is semi-good on the ground vs a chump and still unable to do harm, that's when the ref should step in. Or when two gassed fighters only lay on top on one another...

GSP's constantly improving position and transitionning and tryin' stuff thats why he doesn't get stood up. Chael doesn't try anything even if he gets stuck in a position he cant even hit properly instead of trying to move somewhere he can actually deal damage he'll just stay there and do stupid weak strikes from impossible angles even though he's probly gonna waste more energy than the other guy by doing so.

Chael sucks. Page is right.
