HW title picture come 2013

I can see the following possibilities:

If Cormier beats Mir, he will fight Overeem in a title eliminator Jan/Feb 2013 to fight the winner of Cain/JDS.

BUT,

If Cain beats JDS, Cormier won't wanna take the Overeem fight, so UFC will have to look to either the winner of Browne/Silva, Carwin/Nelson, or Werdum for an opponent for Reem.

I think that although Werdum is considered by many to be a top contender right now, UFC won't wanna put on Reem vs Werdum 2 after how the first fight went...

Werdum could end up fighting Hunt or the winner of Browne/Silva too I think..

It would seem though that Overeem's next opponent will be determined by the results of Cormier/Mir and JDS/Cain fights...

Discuss. Thanx

there's a lot of ifs involved with the heavyweight division imo.

If JDS and Cormier win, they will fight.

If Cain and cormier win, they won't fight.

If Cain and Mir win, they will fight.

If JDS and Mir win, they won't fight

(because it's too soon for a rematch, and it's not like Mir got caught, he got completely picked apart)

When is Carwin and Neslon scheduled to fight? I'm thinking that Overeem will get the winner of that, (probably carwin) and the winner of overeem vs tuf coaches gets the 2nd title shot from now.

For me, the best case scenario for the heavyweight title fights is

1. JDS vs Cain - JDS wins

2. JDS vs Cormier - JDS wins

3. JDS vs Overeem ____ wins

and somewhere along the way Carwin fights Cain, Werdum fights Mir, Hunt fights Barry, Lavar fights Big Ben, Big nog fights Struve, (Actually, now that I think about it, I still want Big nog to fight Brock)

PS

HW division looking mega exciting for next year

^^^ This!

There is so much potential for awesome match ups. I don't remember the last time the division had this kind of depth. Moving closer to being like the LHW division with big name star power. I'm very excited for all the fights mentioned (minus Werdum and Overeem, no one wants to see that again and I'm sure UFC will avoid it)

Yo Nigma,

Carwin vs Nelson is December 1st.

Also, I don't think they are gonna pass Overeem over twice for his title shot. JDS is like Anderson, fighting twice per year only, so after beating Cain on December 29th he won't fight again until June/July I'm thinking. That gives Overeem the opportunity to fight someone like Cormier in Jan/Feb and then the winner fight JDS in the summer,

Of course the assumption above is that JDS wins again

That's so bull ****. The younger champs especially should fight as often as possible. The more time you spend in the spotlight, the more your star shines. Look at Jones, he will have fought 6 times in a year and a half when he fights vitor, and he's the most talked about champ in the ufc, even before he ditched ufc 151.

Yeah JDS has disappointed me this year, going a bit too Anderson Silva on us

UFC wanted the Cain fight to be September/October, back in the summer JDS camp came out saying no it wont happen as Cain has re-injured his hand.

Cain's camp came out a week after denying that and saying they can be ready September/October.

JDS's camp then says it is JDS was has a 'minor' injury (they say minor so he doesnt have to be flown to LV to see UFC doctors).

Then JDS and his management start saying they would rather wait for Overeem to return in 2013, which as we know wont happen as UFC have arranged the Cain fight for December 29th.

In the meantime JDS is doing non-stop promotion on Brazilian TV, flying off to Australia to do UFC promo's, Canada, the US etc etc. He just basically milking all the promotional opportunities at the moment and advertising etc.

Now I dont blame Anderson so much for doing this, as he has held the belt for 5 years and defended nearly a dozen times. But JDS has defended it just ONCE, he needs to be fighting and defending the belt rather than being the UFC's equivalent of a ****ing Snooki!

JDS wins

Cormier wins

Carwin wins

Big Nog returns to fight Reem around NYE

then Mir vs Cain (Cain)

Cormier vs Carwin (Cormier)

IF Reem wins its Reem vs JDS

otherwise Big Nog vs Cain

Hunt remains a gatekeeper

You forgetting guys like Travis Browne, Stipe Miocic, Stefan Struve and Werdum bro. They will all have a say in the title picture next me thinks

big nog should fight the winner of struve vs miocic

Big Nog vs Werdum 2 might happen

Although with Werdum coming off 2 UFC wins and Nog coming off the loss to Mir, not sure if thats a logical match-up from Werdum's point of view...

****ing Joe Silva, where are all the HW match-ups

I badly want to see Hunt but im afraid he will lose to other fighters on the road to JDS.

I think he presents a really bad matchup for JDS and i think he presents more danger to him than any other fighter.

He is lucky he dodged Struve, coz he would have ended up just like Lavar did

It keeps surprising me how easily people see JDS getting past Cain again. I didn't see a very dominant JDS in their first fight. Cain got caught but there wasn't enough of a fight to determine how they truly stack up.

Cain is a monster' date=' so is JDS but this isn't a guaranteed win for JDS. Not by far...[/quote']

LOL....I know. JDS must have a serious case of itchiness on his sack' date=' gold bond ain't gonna be enough.[/quote']

Im a huge fan of Cain but JDS will glass him out fast again, send him down to LHW and finally we will see Chicken Duck get humiliated.
