Hence, saying that Silva is racist, or more commonly that Sonnen is, is just plain wrong.

 

One who drastically prefers their country to all others is referred to as jingoistic if in a negative light or patriotic in a positive light

 

So if you want to point out someone routing for the guy from their own country call them patriots or jingoists

 

not racist.

Actually Braziliians are all immigrants. They all derive from AFrica and Spain not to long ago. The only true continents with ethnicities that date back thousands of years are from Europe, Africa and Asia. That's it. The other 4 continents are built up from immigrants in the last 400 years... You guys seriously don't know history...

I can't even begin to laugh at how historically inacurate this is. Their are native south americans as well as native north americans. Thousands of years ago those natives are beleived to have crossed the land bridge between asia and north america. Everyone from asia and europe, technically all descended from Africans. Ever hear of Mayans, Incans, Aztecs? Hundreds of thousands of native tribes existed in the America's for tens of thousands of years before Columbus planted his little flag over here.

So now you're saying that most Americans aren't the result of immigration within the last 400 years because less than 1% of the population living here was derived from Indian tribes that were here prior to that point? Fail.

I'm not going to lie, I'm more inclined to root for American fighters with some exceptions. I'm also more inclined to root for a fighter from my home state as well. There's nothing racist about it, its human nature. The Brazilians are the most rabid about it. The British boo everytime a British fighter loses too (I loled at Condits post fight celebration amongst the jeers of angry Brits after KO'ing Dan Hardy).

 

The only ones I can think of that don't always root for only their guy would be the Japanese, Canadians (they were rooting for Hominick but were cheering just as loud when Aldo was tuning him up too) and to a lesser extent the better crowds in the U.S.

 

Really, the only fighter from another country I consistently root for is Cigano because he's a ****ing stud and he makes Cruz2990 cry himself to sleep at night.

I was actually taking up for you dummy. And in NO form, shape, or fashion did I say anything about America not being a melting pot for immigration. And no, most immigrants that came here throughout the first 300 years were mainly British. Wasn't until the start of the 20th century when most Germans, Irish, Scottish, Italian, etc immigrants begin to really pour in.
