I do not work directly in the film industry. I used to run a company that supplied services for Actors and Directors and other film executives. Now I am simply very good friends with many actors and directors and will often just hang out on whatever show they are working on and eat :D

And I am in Vancouver

Huh. I would love to hear more about the services...outside of agency, management company, or PR firm, I don't know what services would be provided to actors, directors and certainly not film execs.

I spent a number of years in the film industry. Well that's being a little too positive about my career - I spent a number of years making commercials and working on straight to DVD movies. So I know a bit about the ups and downs of the industry. And I gotta say, if I never see a craft service table again, it would be too soon. There are only so much cups of Folger's coffee and Nature Valley granola bars you can put up with before you prefer being tired and hungry.

Although on some productions they would actually go up on location and bring trays full of fresh fruit smoothies, juices and B12 supplements - now THAT was nice. So I guess it's a sliding scale. If it's someone who's career is craft services, they are awesome. If it's just a couple of interns or entry PAs shilling out cans of cola out of a cooler and little packages of chips, I'd just as soon wait for catering than choke down more sustenance lacking food.

My old company supplied personal assistants for actors, directors etc. who didn't have their own when in town. We would work directly with the production office, not the actors directly. And the craft service table quality was always directly related to the movies budget. Bigger stars, bigger budget, better craft service. Catering was a whole different animal, in Vancouver, we have amazing catering trucks.
