Aussie Boxer unifies belts

Now that he;s there I bet the Klitschko brothers won't be having all their fights in Germany any more. They'll be ducking him like he's Glover Teixeira

The Klitsch Bros are bother heavyweights, this guy is a middleweight.

And it's quite an accomplishment for him. Strum was not only the WBC Middleweight Super Champion, but it was in his home country (which isn't that rare, Strum has fought like 90% of his career in Germany). I mean he's got quite a long ways to go before becoming the Undisputed middleweight champion; including an eventual show down with JCC, who I would wager most people (including I believe The Ring) view as the definitive champion of the weight class. Maybe if he beats N'Jikam I might grow more interested in seeing a showdown between him and Julio Cesar Chavez - but right now, he's just another great boxer who's walking around with two belts that don't mean much simply because even if he's a double champion, he's still not the marque name of the division.

I know! That's what makes it so amazing that they're trying to avoid him at all costs.

 That is some next level ducking right there my good sir!

Could you imagine a champion trying to avoiding fighting someone in a smaller weight class? I mean it's bad enough when a champion says no to a challenger, any challenger, but a smaller one? I mean my goodness - or like, what if that challenger hadn't even been training but was willing to get back into fighting shape in like 8 days or something - but the champ still said no. THAT would be embarrassing. ;)

Good thread.

It is indeed hard to get a decision over there' date=' far worse than America these days.

Congrats to Geale. Sturm was on borrowed time, we've had two brits go over there only to be screwed on the judges scorecards against Sturm.[/quote']

We didn't really get screwed, they were both close fights.

Murray was screwed IMO.

I feel if that fight takes place anywhere else we bring home the belts. But hey' date=' it happens everywhere, even in jolly old England.

Froch vs Dirrell (I was there) was one of the most obvious home town decisions I have seen in years.

Hopefully Murray gets a shot against Geale.[/quote']

Froch Dirrell was also a close fight though. That's what happens when you have the home advantage.

I want to see Geale vs Golovkin but I doubt it'd happen.
