Friend, i have been overseas on a couple occasions and I am very familiar with people who were in many ways intrinsically involved with what went on during the Libya intervention and how things were prior to it.

How does whats happening to the bank make any difference as to whether he was a bad man or not?

I think interest free loans and a debtless banking system showed he wasn't prepared to sell his soul to the powers that be in order to make money from a debt economy at the detriment of his people. Which is what they have now thanks to the IMF and The world Bank.

it was funny watching him get knifed in the ****

Would you laugh if that was Obama?

the wording of the thread title implies over wise

maybe you should be clearer when making your thread as your thread is nothing but a youtube video that means nothing.

Sorry' date=' but I dont see what your point is to this thread

He was an evil dictator that needed to be removed. those are facts that cannot be denied.[/quote']

Baring in mind the standard of living his people had compared to other countries in that region can you tell me why he would have been a hinderance to the future of Libyans? what was he actually doing?

Have you actually read anything about the region or history? you dont actually have to ask the question as the evidence is readily available for all to read.

if not, i suggest you do. Its 3.15 am here and I am not going into it now as I am beat.

Buy Libya has a lot of natural resources. So who cares if we attacked one of Al Qaeda's main enemies and a bunch of black people got slaughtered, doesn't that happen in Africa any ways?

Here is the thing, Gaddafi was enemies with extreme Muslims. Those are the people he put on trial because they were so radical. Gaddafi was HATED by the Muslim world because he allowed women the same rights as men. That means, we helped out Al Qaeda.

Also, Libya had a higher living standard than any other place in Africa but not any more..

But, wait, Libya has resources that could be ours! Sad day...

just a few things you may want to look at. start at the bottom and scroll up. not all links work' date=' I apologise but you may get a clearer picture about the man[/quote']

Problem is... Gaddafi use to be USA, CIA Bush and Blair's friend. We set up these dictators later to be taken down.

People need to start thinking outside the box...

I worked at St James Sq a long time ago for a year, each time I looked out of the window I would see Yvonne Fletchers memorial so I dont take this lightly at all.

But when it comes to using our leaders as a moral barometer against someone like Gaddafi, we dont have a leg to stand on. Yes he commited atrocities and acts of terrorism. But so have we looking at it from all sides. Bombing, supplying militias, economic sanctions, the list goes on. In the grand scheme of things compared to other nations in that region Libya was a prosperous country considering it had so many sanctions against it.

The differences between the secterian groups within the Arab world are being exploited to fuel these up risings. Not to mention that some of these groups are dubious to say the least and actually wanted to remove secularism. They also had with real links to Al Qeada the group that caused Gaddafi to call a truce with the UK and US in the late nineties because he was under threat.

Pretty sure him and his army raped 100's of women. But then again use of force is something you are cool with.

American troops have also raped women.

I apologise if I made it seem you take it lightly, just you reply seemed that way and I was beat.

I have never excused the decisions our leaders have made but that dosent change the things he has done. In my opinion he should have been tried at the Hague on war crimes with Blair and Bush.

No worries, I know that you are or were in the Forces so these issues more than likely mean more to you than most.

And we rightfully punish them for it

BTW - our troops have sacrificed themselves for people overseas - something few other soldiers can claim.

Im not in the habit of bashing the guys on the frontline, it doesn't sit well with me. But as for BJJ people in glass houses etc.
