RogerJones620
I was pondering about this, and imagining what a message that would send to Jon Jones if Gustaffson finished Shogun in the first round. But then I stopped, and started thinking about reality, and it appears that Shogun has never been knocked out before (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maur%C3%ADcio_Rua), let alone in the first round. Does anyone actually have any faith that Gustaffson can pull this off, or is he just blowing smoke? The only reason I'm asking is because I'm really clinging to hope that someone can and will beat the hell out of Jon Jones, and I've pretty much counted everyone else on the "top 10" LHW list (http://www.mmaweekly.com/light-heavyweight-division-205-pound-limit-mma-top-10) out. King_Can
no, but he will use his reach and stay on the outside and tag him a few times fight will look similar to Thiago Silva IMO, unless shogun shoots for a takedown
ZaGOAT
KO? No. TKO? Yes. He's going to drop him with a big punch and finish him with some followup punches. Alexander The Great does not possess 1 punch KO power.

RuAloser
Depends on Shogun...if he trains and gets in shape he'll win via KO but if he shows up like the easy gassing and slow fighting Shogun like he has been he'll get beat up from the outside till UD for Gustaf. megaman
Any top 5 guy in that division could've probably stopped Shogun in his last fight. He was getting hit a lot and went 4 rounds with Vera. Gus has a shot at stopping him but I wouldn't old my breath. I got him winning by decision though. HOGS17
Alot of ppl think Gus is going to beat Shogun. Gus hasn't fought any top level strikers yet and his chin has yet to be tested. Shogun and Gus will trade blows I believe, and we're gonna see if Gus can take a punch, bc we know Shogun can!

IowaMMA
Gus striking has significantly improved and although he doesht have one punch KO power, he would wear Shogun down with his striking. If Shogun gets into a precarious position on the ground, Gus would have no problem finishing him with hammer of thor punches. Lets be honest, Shogun has gotten used to taking shots to the face as a defense and GUS is not one to risk against.

Wanderlei Silva held the PRIDE belt for a long time and him and Sloscrub wouldn't fight each other. ultimatefightingchamp
your post Hendo lost in the tournament that Shogun won in Pride. But fine, if you don't wanna call it a belt. Shogun was the UFC champ and Hendo couldn't do it in 2 tries Hendo also uses TRT since 2007 to stay relevant, don't you think it's sketchy for every guy of his generation to have already faded out (Shogun - who's much younger - Wanderlei, Big Nog, Chuck, Randy - also a TRT boy - Fedor, etc.) and Hendo suddenly is at the best stage of his career at 42? Most of the guys I listed have also been knocked out for being in too many wars but Hendo eats shots like a roided zombie. Cool, he beat Shogun, but we all know that he had the testosterone of 4 men. Chris Weidman said in his Q&A that his T/E ratio is much lower than what fighters are allowed to have, and Weidman is a young, healthy beast. I'd rather see Shogun retire tomorrow then having results that he could never achieve without synthetic hormones. That is all

You want to talk about sketchy, what's sketchy is a 30 year old man suddenly having bacne outburst when it was never an issue before in his life. Don't just assume Dan abuses his TRT because your boy Chael Sonnen was. Dan recieved a TUE from the athletic commissions, his T/E ratio is checked often to make sure he is not abusing it. But if you want to play that game: We all know Shogun abused PED's throughout his time in Japan.

RodrigoRua
No. He couldn't even knock Thiago Silva out. One of the reasons why I dont think Gus is all that yet !!! Gus fought a Thiago coming from a suspension/lay off PLUS short notice PLUS fighting in Sweeden in front of his country (no doubt he was prepared 100% for it) and still couldnt finish Thiago (Machida did fairly easy on the 1st round for example) I really got that Shogun was frustrated with his performance (cardio) against Vera and I do believe we will see a very improved Shogun facing Gus and that could mean a short night for Gustaffson !!! If Gus wins it will be a UD, period

IowaMMA
If Hendo had trouble trying to finish Shogun' date=' then I think Gus will struggle as well[/quote'] Gustaffson biggest asset is his killer instinct to kill with the hammer fist when he drops an opponent. I never said Shogun would go out, but when he gets down on the ground GUS is going to throw wicked hammer fists until the ref will have to stop the fight. Shogun may have a granite chin and probably wont go out, but the REF will stop it do to the punishment inflicted on Shogun. War GUS:D
Magerget
If you listen to the people who has been training with Gus through the years, now and even when he started up his mma-carrer here in Sweden, they are all in agreement, he hits redicioulusly hard. Onepunh-KO? Seems not, havn't seen it yet, but when he can drop guys with essentially a jab, thats striking-power. If Shogun would, uncharacaristically, come to the fight ripped and in shape, then the fight could go either way, Shogun is after all experienced like a mother****er and his fightingheart is second to none... But if he comes as "Shobum", then the result will be TKO in first or maybe second round for Gus...
Jbrahams
Hendo landed his hardest shots and couldn't KO Shogun, I doubt anyone could, I think Shogun either wins by taking this to the ground or clinch (perhaps not very exciting) or he gasses and Gus picks him apart
