JBJF
http://mmajunkie.com/news/30510/spike-tv-to-counter-program-tuf-16-debut-with-roy-nelson-marathon-on-sept-14.mma pike TV will counter-program FX's debut of "The Ultimate Fighter 16" later this month. Spike TV today announced its Sept. 14 prime-time lineup will include Roy Nelson and two of his fights from "TUF 10," which aired on the cable station in 2009. Nelson's preliminary-round matchup with Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson, as well as the entire TUF 10 Live Finale main card, are slated for the counter-programming broadcast. The marathon airs from 8 p.m. to midnight ET/PT. A two-hour "TUF 16" debut, which features the new show's 16 elimination-round fights, kicks off the same night at 9 p.m. ET/PT on FX. Nelson, of course, serves as a "TUF 16" coach opposite fellow heavyweight Shane Carwin. Nelson actually found his way to the UFC after winning the heavyweights-only 10th season of "TUF" on Spike TV, which featured notables such as "Kimbo," Matt Mitrione, Brendan Schaub and Jon Madsen. Due to the UFC's new multi-year broadcast deal with FOX, events and shows that previously aired on Spike TV now air on FX and FUEL TV. However, Spike TV owns the UFC's library rights through the end of this year, and counter-programming has been used throughout the year. 12еr
lol who does this benefit? the UFC for sure Kind of, but while they could manage to expose new viewers for the UFC their ultimate goal is to reduce ratings on FOX while they're playing anything UFC related. So if a casual fan is clicking through channels and comes to Spike first, they might stop and watch it not realizing there is new content on FX. But at any rate, Dana must have rustled Spike tv's Jimmys pretty badly for them stooping to such petty tactics for an entire year.
Sajeitto
Spike TV's UFC counter-programming is always just so damn sad and pathetic.
Sajeitto
wrong' date=' for some reason Spike has been pulling HUGE numbers with their counter programming during live UFC events. Something like 3 or 4 to 1 what the live Fuel cards have been pulling. I don't understand it but I'm looking forward to next year when they quit pulling this **** and Bellator flops.[/quote'] Most people don't get Fuel TV because most people are too cheap to pay for it. Sajeitto
Not my point. Fuel Tv events have been averaging around 250' date='000 and the counter programming has been doing 3 or 4 times that so far. 1,000,000 viewers for reruns is nothing to scoff at.[/quote'] A lot of Americans (especially in the Deep South) are borderline retarded so that doesn't surprise me. OmoGOAT
I like Roy but I hope he's serious about getting in better shape. He's gonna need it against a 100% carwin.

Carwin hits like a train and watching Roy fight is reminiscent of the episode of the simpsons when Homer becomes a boxer and just stands there taking a beating. The Homer Simpson strategy may be an acceptable game plan against Carwin. Can't wait to see how this goes down.
OmoGOAT
Roy did take all of JDS's best shots too. I would have to say Carwin learned a lesson when he gassed against Brock though.
12еr
lol ^^^ wrong opponent to do it against imo though Carwin power > Arlovski power The question is Carwins power vs Roy's double chin. Which is gives first? *I meant his cardio, but I guess they are interconnected anyway.

Krendo
Most people don't get Fuel TV because most people are too cheap to pay for it. Or, it could be that it's not available everywhere. People have to switch to Satellite to get it as well, when you have all of your stuff on Cable already, to get Fuel just doesn't make sense. I wouldn't switch providers so Dana and his gay tv buddies can make more money off me than the grand I spend a year in PPVs. 5 bucks extra a month isn't the problem, switching providers is, if its even available in your town. Sajeitto
lol.... from Orlando Florida. I live in Florida, but like most Floridians I'm not originally from here, I'm originally from Texas which isn't any better. By living in southern states my entire life I've been able to study this inbred species known as Southerners well so I know how stupid most (but not all) of them can be. Now Zeus knows I'm not a smart man and I've never claimed to be one, but I sometimes appear to be one compared to most of these hillbilly swamp-dwellers. I really like Roy Nelson but if he turns this fight into a slugfest then he'll probably lose by KO/TKO unless Carwin punches himself out again the Nelson will win by submission or TKO after round two. Arlovski knocked out Nelson but it was a controversial stoppage and I do believe Nelson took that fight on about one week's notice.
