I might quit drinking alcohol

thanks man' date=' it wouldn't be that hard

Its not the feeling of intoxication I would miss, its the partying.[/quote']

I know several people who enjoy a good party, but they are either non-drinkers or light social drinkers. I don't think you'd have to give up your night life if you cut back. Perhaps you may find the environment at a "kegger" to not be as appealing anymore - and going out to your local bar or pub might not have the same draw - but certainly attending parties shouldn't take a huge hit if you pull back or leave it out all together.

I for one no longer drink heavily when I go to parties. I usually stick to a nice wine if it's that kind of scene, or I have been known to bring a bottle of single malt scotch, which I only go through a glass or two. If there is an open bar, I've found nursing a martini or two gives a nice degree of social lubrication without the nasty feeling the following morning, but you also stay very much in control, and everyone looks suave walking about with a martini glass.

In all honesty quitting would be a good Idea, the first time you get crushed after a few weeks of sobriety, you will ask yourself why you ever did that in the first place.

I treated my alcoholic stomach ulcer with herbal remedies, it works.

Ginseng, Cayenne, Chamomile, Golden Seal, Echinacea, Aloe juice & Slippery elm

You said much of what I would have. The only thing I would add is that OP should perhaps consider why he wants to stop. Swearing off something rarely goes well. Perhaps look at moderation, and choosing quality over quantity. If it is getting in the way of life, look at what holes the alcohol is filling (as hard as that can be) and make an effort to address what is discovered.

People occasionally rib me for raving about a beer, but i am content with 1 or 2 REALLY tasty beers in an evening, or a couple glasses of a good bubbly or a slow glass of whiskey. Once your perspective on what and why you drink shifts, you can more easily manage some of the contributing and resulting factors of alcohol. Drunk, hammered, hungover feelings are not results of responsible intake, so try to take a broader look at what your ultimate goals are when drinking or out at a party.

Also, there is nothing wrong with admitting you are drinking more than you should, and I am glad you see that before it gets out of hand.

I think alot of people miss understood why Im taking a break

my body just can't take it' date=' has nothing to do with getting drunk with friends, I love that

that, and I missed classes this morning because of it.[/quote']

I was too sick, I tried I actually was almost in my class when I had to puke, so I want back to my res. However its not always that its different every morning now.

and It doesn't really matter what alcohol I drink I get the same symptoms everytime, but this week its been bacardi and ice polar vodka.

Im going to head to a walk in and get checked out, I think an anti acid tablet might help.

As a person with serious stomach issues that i am still getting worked out., I think that is a good first step. However, please also consider the amount you intake if it is making you ill. The throwing up can actually mess you up more, both with muscular, tissue, and acid damage, so you will need an antacid for now until you figure out if it is a consumption thing or an actual physical intolerance. I am not trying to encourage you to keep drinking, I just want you to get smart about knowing your body and it's quirks. You are young, you are going to want to figure that stuff out now before causing irreparable damage.

Types, or total ever? That's an odd question, but because I am careful i could probably do the math over the last 13+ years lol. Unique types, about 200 over that time period.

Yes' date=' I am quitting also.

For now.

After last night.

My head hurts.[/quote']

For now. And for you, moderation was the issue ;)

depends how sick your getting in the morning after a heavy night of drinking mate?

If you think its above the normal hangover feeling and your spewing up violently everytime you might wanna get it checked out. Could be something to do with your kidneys like what happened with my stepdad, he found out he was diabetic that way

getting in the way of life

might cut back or quit for good

Im still pretty young so no harm done yet.

just a thought.

p.s Im not an alcoholic...

Do it. I quit drinking about 3 years ago and consider it one of the best decisions I've ever made.

PS... People who get defensive and claim not to be alcoholics, typically are in fact, alcoholics.

I spent about four months binge drinking heavily. Like, over the course of those four months there's probably about 5-10 days total I didn't get **** faced.

Eventually, after any morning following heavy drinking, I would become violently sick, lasting many hours, throwing up until I was dry heaving, unable to hold anything down, bed ridden etc etc.

That's when I decided it was probably time to stop drinking. And I know I'm not an alcoholic because I was able to give it up at the drop of a hat and I haven't had a single drink since. Ever since I stopped though I've been smoking weed habitually...

Hmm...

P.S.

Funny how the far less dangerous/damaging of those two vices is the illegal one!!! :D:(

It's a money thing. I don't smoke pot anymore, haven't since I was 18, but I definitely don't think it should be illegal.
