I agree that he still has at least three more fights in that division that are worth seeing (Condit' date=' winner of Kampmann/Hendricks and Diaz), but why can't he just fight Silva in a super fight and be done with it?

It's not like they're asking him to move up permanently...[/quote']

Because he's scared to ruin his legazee.

GSP ain't going to fight Silva' date=' there's always going to be contenders at each weight class.[/b']

So basically his going to keep fighting at WW till Silva retires.

That doesn't matter, if both guys and Dana really want it they'll do it. GSP vs Silva is far bigger than GSP/Silva vs any contender.

It just sounds like GSP doesn't want the fight.

UFC has hit a stale spot, and has really lost its growth period

No one wants to see the same ol same ol forever. It would be fun to see you beat up nick diaz, but it's just NICK DIAZ! the guy has 7 losses and was just a strikeforce champ who could never beat a top 5 guy

You've dominated WW for 5 years, Silva dominated MW for even longer. We all know you 2 are the best in the division, FIGHT SILVA!

The fans have asked for it for 5 years!

5 Years from now GSP will still be defending the WW successfully. He'll be in the KO artist stage of his career much like Decision Dan transitioned into (IMO) and George will be unanimously touted as the best ever.

Anderson would be retired for 3 or 4 years and a just a nostalgic memory much like Fedor.

AS knows he needs this fight for the notoriety and the pay day because he doesn't have much time left. He can't afford to fight no names like Chris and Tim.

GSP knows he has a selection of the top fighters in the world to defend against in Martin, Johnny, Rory, Carlos....Diaz that will keep him busy for the next 5 years and in the process break ppv records.

Silva is throwing a hail mary shot from half court hoping it will land in GSP hoop of interest.

But the ball is really in Georges court since it's up to him to obliged Anderson.

this is what GSP has been saying for years.

its his trump card for ducking Silva, along with "eye need to bulk up first" or "If i move up, I move up permanently"

Silva didnt move up permanently when he faced former champ Griffin, he just didnt cut weight. GSP not cutting weight is a 200lb man.

WTF ever. Condit will rid us of this clown champion once and for all.

Agreed. Silva is a coward for waiting until the division is stacked full of contenders to want to fight gsp. He just wants a big paycheck and a long list of excuses when he loses, honestly a disgrace to the sport if you ask me. It takes years to make it to the top of a division and now your going to deny those hard working fighters just because you don't want your first loss to be to an up and comer but rather somebody he can make more excuses for losing to. Pathetic champion and should be cut immediately.

As a GSP fan, he can't look past Condit. Condit is a much tougher fight than Diaz ever would be.

Having said that, he should take the Silva fight if he gets past Condit. They have already offered a catch weight, it's a win win situation for him as his "legacy" won't be tarnished by losing to the bigger P4P fighter.

He can clean out the WW division after that fight. If he waits until both he and Silva are too old or have a few losses, no one will care as much and he won't make the money he would if he fought now.

1.A Silva has been ducking LHW for years' date='[b'] 2.made friends with Bones just to duck him[/b] and somehow GSP is the bish.3. Both of them duck constantly and in general avoid fights like the plague. Luckily they're so damn good.

1. He beat the former champion of that division up.

2. Jones doesn't want to fight Silva either.

3. Silva wants to fight GSP, GSP's the one who's ducking.

For those of you that think GSP needs to fight Hendrix and Kampman... NO. the Hendrix fight will be GSP vs Kos all over again. And Kampman has nothing for GSP. He's a good solid fighter, but shouldn't be mentioned when talking about GSP.

Erick Silva, Nick Diaz, Rory McDonald are the only fights that GSP needs to have at WW currently.

But who cares? The Silva fight is just one fight, he can go back to defending the belt after they fight. He already ruined his legacy when he was submitted by Hughes, tko'd by Serra, and decisioned half the W.W. roster.

I bet Dana convinces GSP to take the fight after he woops Condit.

St. Pierre has never been interested in fighting silva' date=' nothing has changed, its one of the many reasons why i've said that fight will never happen. You guys can hope all you want it's never coming true, the sooner you accept it, the sooner you can move on.[/quote']

we have to have hope!!

GSP watched Silva's last fight' date=' realized he's not washed up yet, and wants to wait a couple more years until he is before taking the fight. Pathetic.[/quote']

Silva also waited until GSP got injured and now wants to fight him, pathetic. I do not care....I think Silva should move up and stay there.

GSP has nothing to gain from fighting Silva.

GSP's career will last much longer than Silva's due to age, so even if Silva retires in the next 2 years, GSP will likely be fighting and accruing a greater "record" than Anderson Silva long after most casuals have forgotten that he exists.

I don't like GSP, but it doesn't make sense for a welterweight to want to fight a light heavy weight. Especially considering that Anderson has already handled Chael Sonnen twice, and his wrestling > GSPs.

Not sure I agree with the Diaz-Condit assessment, but the rest is spot on. Silva's the one who has the most to lose by this fight. But all he cares about is his W/L record, as is evident by his constant safe style. He wouldn't risk putting another L on his record.

He already ruined his legacy when he was submitted by Hughes' date=' tko'd by Serra, and decisioned half the W.W. roster.[/quote']

Now THAT'S a 5* post! The problem is, most GSP fans didn't even know what MMA was when those fights happened.

Can they even catch each in a match since they'll both be greased?

You'd think GSP would want Silva on his back, and would vasoline really help with that? It would only be good for sub defense, but if you're to slippery to grab onto a guy and take them down then what good is the grease really doing for you?
