Silva's legacy

Is silva just resting now on his past and wanting to secure his legacy by not jeopardizing himself vs. weidman or jones

I remember a time when silva was so invincible he could have taken out anyone and was the obvious number 1 p4p, but now i feel like he's avoiding weidman and jones. No disrespect to Silva (his fans always jump down my throat), but I do think he's no longer number 1 p4p simply due to the fact that he's too old and people like jones are much more near their prime as well as the fact that they represent the new wave of mma athlete

Anyways, I still get super excited for every silva fight, I just would have rather seen one of his last fights where he's not too far out of his prime to be a test like shogun or jones

because weidman is undefeated in his career and just SMASHED munoz. he has a much better chance than the 14-7 bonnar who just beat kyle kingsbury by decision

bonnar's best defeat ever was against jardine and that was a long time ago

weidman beat a fat munoz

and btw silva didn't choose this fight he stepped up to save ufc 153 (to fight at a weightclass higher) like he did at ufc 151 but jones ducked

While I agree that in terms of P4P Silva and Jones are very close (one has the quantity of wins the other the quality of wins).

Silva is in no way resting on past deeds by going up a weight class and fighting one of the biggest guys there who by all intents and purposes is on a 3 fight winning streak.

i don't know man...it's silva...we're talking about the mma world's greatest of ALL time...should he really be fighting bonnar who is probably ranked somewhere around 75 p4p? just seems like a collosal mismatch...the only thing you could give bonnar here is that he has the size advantage, which makes it a more fair fight

It's pretty obvious he shouldn't be fighting Bonnar man, I've said in another thread that the only way they wouldn't spoon feed him an opponent is if he fought Shogun or Machida (except JBJ and Evans but Evans was never in talks to be in this fight).

Everyone else in that division was either going to be fighters that make no sense in Silva fighting them (Glover, Gus, Davis they're all rising guys in the division it would be pretty stupid to throw them in there with Silva), or just fighters that are easy wins for Silva.

SILVA is a beast but winning against GSP (A NATURAL WELTERWEIGHT)really won't enlarge his legacy. With his obvious size advantage , people will always say, why call out a WW when there are dangerous MW'S a LHW'S AROUND.A win over GSP may impress mainstreamers, but hardcore MMA fans will always question why he did,nt take the more challenging fights, guys his own size.AND this is where some guy says GSP weighed like 190 in the Sheilds fight, the truth is they all cut a lot of weight now.JONES walks around at 235 , fights at 205, Anderson 220 fights at 185.Bendo Dwarfed Frankie in their fights.SILVA IS A BIG MIDDLEWEIGHT, COMPLETLY CAPABLE OF BEATING MOST IF NOT ALL LHW'S.If his legacy is important to him, he may want to think how it's gonna look him bullying around the 5 foot 10 frenchman, G.O.A.T. fighters ARENT SUPPOST TO BE BULLIES.Weidman is the fight to see right now.they are both 6 foot 2 with 78 inch reaches, and walk around substantially bigger,he can strike all right, he's in good shape and his wins have been impressive, and he has brutal wrestling, and he truly thinks he can submit Silva. Who knows HE MIGHT JUST have what it takes to throw Silva to the mat and keep him there, MAYBE WORK ON A SUBMISSION.Hey maybe that's why Anderson wants the Welterweight Champ.......................WHO KNEW.........GSP IS A BIG NAME, AND ANDERSON MAY NOT HAVE TO TAKE BIG RISKS,AND HE CAN MAKE BIG MONEY.All the mainstreamers can say Silva whooped the great GSP. EVEN IF IT IS BULLYING

some people in here are so stupid...i would like to see one link that says silva called out or wanted to fight jones at 151..

silva ...on many many occaisions has made it clear he has no interest in jones...going as far as admitting in nice words that jones is the younger, stronger, bigger version of himsilf and admitting jones is out of his class

get a brain you morons and read the real stuff

jbj and evans both have phenominal wrestling, anderson will shy away from wrestlers, especially at 205, and unlike chael these guys can strike too , not like silva ,but still dangerous.there is some talk of evans fighting at 185, he might have the tools at thatweight to challange the g.o.a.t

He wanted to fight a LHW (not JBJ), at 151 there's proof of this.

Jones has also said he doesn't want to fight Silva.

They're both ducking each other for obvious reasons.
