Bonnar's winning strategy

From 'Inside MMA' - "Hopefully he breaks a hand and a foot hitting my head, and then I can beat him up." Seriously, how can you not love the guy? Sure, he probably won't win (and it sounds like he knows it), but he's got a great attitude and he is always entertaining in and out of the ring.

Take him down and work sidemount much like Daiju Takase did maybe even do a little T-bag action from north-south like he did to Kingsbury. lol

Seriously though i think that's the best strategy against Anderson. Take him down pass his guard and make him work to escape and keep transitioning back and fourth from normal side control, modified scarfhold and north-south while striking looking for trapping oppourtunities ( especially the crucifix to really make him burn energy escaping ) and the arm behind head grip Rickson uses and look for the arm triangle, darce, kimura and north-south choke.

If Chael was struggling to get him down I doubt Bonnar will even be able to close the distance without getting dropped

Sure if he sits there like a fool and gets mezmorized. If he comes out and plays it like he's gonna do the calm and cool striker ( just enough to establish a rhythm ) then suddenly breaks that rhythm and rushes him he'll get the clinch and he's tall enough and strong enough and decent enough wrestling to take him down.

Silva is not that good at Greco type defense. If you shoot a single or double from a far he might angle off and stuff it or avoid it, get his hips but if you establish a rhythem and break it rushing with a single punch then slip the counter while continuing to close and lock his body up Silva won't stop the takedown.

I just don't see it happening, Silva is just too fast and dangerous. Bonnar has really low strike defence and takedown success. Plus he only has a month to train and cut to fight the GOAT in his own country.

Based on the title, I thought we'd have a pic or gif of Homer taking shots and tiring his opponents but this is almost the same.

I think he knows he has a slim chance of winning, but at least he can say he was in the ring with one of the greatest of all time, that's all he really wants. He wants to show he can hang with some of the best and maybe go to a decision, which very few do again Silva. To say he went all the way with Jones and Silva is a plus in my book.

If he should somehow win, wow, that would be epic. He has absolutely nothing to lose here before he retires.

Stephen Bonnar is nicknamed "The American Psycho" for a reason. The guy loves to fight, loves to get bloody, and I don't think Silva can finish him. Plus Bonnar has tons of knock out power and he only needs to land one shot. I think everyone will be shocked when Bonnar gets his hand raised and Silva is still unconscious. It will be epic.

Same here, it's not that I have anything against any fighter personally, but I usually root for the underdog and this would just be a great. Especially if he chose to retire after winning. Retiring as a champion would be amazing for him because we all know if he fought another fight, he would probably lose the title.

If Bonnar wins this fight he won't be receiving a belt, therefore it wouldn't make him a champion. If he were to fight again he wouldn't have a title to lose...

You're right, technically he wouldn't be a champion, that was my fault for using that word. I should have said, he would retire as a winner over a P4P great and finish on top. It's not going to happen though.
