jamamaw
It seems to work pretty well, I myself am not a fan of it, but it works. Question is, why don't we see more fighters using it

StompGrind
It seems to work pretty well' date=' I myself am not a fan of it, but it works. Question is, why don't we see more fighters using it[/quote'] It's difficult to perfect and it favours fighters with a reach advantage. It's pretty risky if you're not very good with it not only in execution but timing, accuracy, proper distance and disguising it. If you telegraph and the opponent evades it or redirects it your asking to get blitzed.
Banham
knee kicks are the refugee of cowards. Real fighters would never do that!
jamamaw
I never even thought about someone using that until jones did. Seems like something you just don't do, you feel me?
Indiglow
It requires speed. In order for it to be effective your opponent has to have his leg planted. If it's planted, their knee buckles, but most people check the kick. Jones has the reach and speed to do it. No idea why more people don't try it though

StompGrind
My girlfriend was watching the fight tonight with me and she goes that looks so cheap! How is that legal?! It's not more "cheap then a footstomp, shoulder butt etc. Is throwing a fient jab followed by a heavy low roundhouse kick that buckles someone's leg "cheap" too? [b']No idea why more people don't try it though[/b] Because like i said it takes alot of practice to perfect and if you telegraph even a little and the opponent evades it or redirects it you're gonna get blitzed and blasted and usually from a blind side angle. Also you don't "Check" Side or oblique kicks. You deflect/redirect them with your forearm or use footwork and or pull your hips back and move your leg out of the path. bluesy
Anderson used it first, but doesn't go around abusing the **** out of it because he has far more tools and techniques. It works well for Jon because of his length. Simple as that. The oblique kick and stretching out the fingers to the face haven't been used by other fighters because it's just not something available to most people when they are fighting other guys who are relatively the same size. Jones could never get away with it fighting someone who's just as long and more technical, like Overeem.

StompGrind
Silva uses it and used it first! Anderson isn't the first you use it. I've seen Pat Curran doing it before i saw Anderson do it and im sure there are others. Hell Bruce Lee was the side kick to the knee master. mtl
andy did it, andy did it.. andy did it!!! seriously.. i would tap to footstomps over alot of other attacks.. i dont know why more fighters dont use it.. i think its just fighters that lose, that complain about takedowns, footstomps, kneekicks and so on.. they dont adjust.. punch the guy in the face if he kicks your knee.. Ive watched anderson jab people in the kneecap before, i was like wth... why is he letting him do that... blame the losers not the winners.
