Vitor Belfort: "I did NOT let go of his arm and I want a second chance"

Well there you go. No one is saying he let it go completely but he did not keep progressive pressure on it and the moment he didn't allowed Jones to get his elbow out.

But it's not like what people were saying, that he was afraid he was going to hurt Jones or that he let it go in an act of sportsmanship, he let it go out of reflex, maybe beacuse he thought he got it in the bag.

I can guarantee though, what he's saying there is that he did not let go of the arm on his own will.

Yeah that's what i understood from what he said at the presser. It was an instictive reaction that bought Jones a split second he needed to escape his elbow enough to relieve the pressure.

Divine intervention:eek: Maybe God really was on Jones side afterall eh? :P

Honestly I would rather see Vitor fight Jones again instead of Rampage, Shogun, Rashad, or Machida. Vitor put up a great fight and didn't really give up. All of the fighters Jones fought before Vitor basically gave up after getting cut or taking a couple elbows. This fight was awesome. I would love to see this fight happen again. Just my opinion.

He said he could do it better with more than 3 weeks of preparation and he deserve a second chance (he is not asking for a rematch)

That'll be giving JJ a gift again. JJ is very smart' date=' and he will know how to defend the armbar. Please, JJ deserves real competition, not Vitor who has a history of getting defeated by former and present champions.

Forget it. Vitor had heart and determination, but where he failed was in his mental strategy game plan. There are many more fighters who have the whole package( strategy, conditioning, determination, and skills ) like Gustafsson, Machida, Texeira, and Mousasi, not the 2 dimensional fighter Vitor is, which JJ also pointed this out.

[b']Vitor just has hand strikes and punches and bjj, but lacks kicking offense and defense skills, wrestling control and reversals, and clinch work skills. [/b]

if he goes stays at 205 and gets a fight with Jones again all he needs to do is watch there first and relize when he was just pushing forward throwing punches he was doing good and he needs to do it from the start in a rematch and next time if he gets an armbar like he did last time roll his head out from under him so he can pull Jones down so that he can have a full Russian armbar and break his arm or get the tap

I think Machida and Vitor deserve rematches' date=' with both taking the fight on short notice and doing well, i'd like to see them have another chance with a full camp 100%.[/quote']

Vitor certainly doesn't deserve a rematch, especially when he didn't deserve the title shot in the first place. He just happened to be in the right place in the right time. I give him props for taking the fight on such short notice and definitely am impressed with how well he did. I wouldn't complain if he got another shot and would definitely watch it, but that doesn't mean he deserves it.
