lol @ Joe Rogan for...

I like Joe Rogan' date=' but disagree with many of his opinions and ideas in this regard.

It's easy to say yes to some of these ideas...until you're on the receiving end of them. Before he makes such assertions...he should be given a taste.[/quote']

He's a BJJ black belt. He's probably been head butted a thousand times lol

An incidental head butt while rolling with someone is not the same as really getting CRACKED.

I disagree. I was rolling last Tuesday and headbutted the **** out of someone. It was during a scramble and he was diving his head in and I was pulling my head out equally as fast. That head butt probably was worst than someone who did it on purpose. At least the opponent isn't diving in to it. They either get hit or are trying to avoid it.

I guess it happens.

I'm kind of divided on these subjects. Part of me jokingly says things like "they should resurface the octagon floor with course grit sandpaper". lol And the compassionate side of me doesn't like to see anyone get serious hurt.

No to bringing back headbutts.....Fights would end too damn quick, it'll end this sport.

Take down/ clinch, head butts all day. Trust me, head butt can sometimes KTFO faster than a punch.

Theses moves are illegal because it'll win the fight too quick too easy. (ex: eye gouge, biting).

FYI, Elbows was illegal before in Strikeforce because of huge gashes on the head, but they allows it after Zuffa purchase.

I disagree too. I got cracked pretty good one time doing the whole "spar on your knees" thing and some spaz was looking for a single so i started to work my way towards taking the back and he suddenly freaked out and stood up crack head fast with the back of his head slamming right into face.

Does Headbutts do brain damage also to the fighter who is doing the strikes? If so, then no is the answers. If this doesn't bring more brain damage, then there is no problem, it's another valid weapon to make the fight more real, and the real best fighter win. Well, everything in MMA is about brain damage, so every strike to the head should be forbidden if headbutts are. LoL, there is no logic on prohibit headbutts and allow the rest of the strikes to the head.

Buried beneath this garble is a good point. Why is one strike illegal compared to another if the outcome to both are the same(similar)?

When you can swing your leg and hit some guy in the jaw with your shin, thats setting the bar pretty damn high as far as damage via type of strike. Why are we making weaker strikes illegal.

But on the other hand, I dont agree with elbows because their value of damage vs cut ratio is too skewed, and nobody wants to see a doctor come in and stop a fight. And I think headbutts would fall under this same category.

I think they should still be illegal because of the minor surface damage they cause is not worth the potential doctors stoppage. Same thing goes with elbows(not forearms). This mentality applies to small joint locks. Who wants to see a finger break stop a fight, but we allow elbow breaks which are much worse.

Gravity.

That's why you don't allow headbutts. A Mark Coleman headbutt from a mounted position carries ridiculous force compared to other strikes. You literally can put your whole body weight into it.

Your logic would be less flawed with regard to standing headbutts, were it not for your campaign against elbows.

Headbutts will make guys bleed like a mofo. Split eyebrows and busted noses.

Plus you'd see an increased number of concussions, very bad for fighters.

It's all irrelevant since Rogan was clearly joking, and since the UFC do not make the rules. The whole reason the rules changed was due to the fact the UFC became a government sanctioned sport.

Oh for sure.

Matt Serra almost beat Matt Hughes inside of the first two minutes of round 1 in their fight 'cos Serra accidentally (yes folks, it certainly looked like a pure accident) headbutted Hughes on the (oversized) chin and the made it look like skill with follow up strikes. One would think it more of an accident if Hughes didn't sometimes get butted on the chin. same with Tito 'desperate dan' Ortiz now I think about it..
