bigroom9
ok, so let's say BJ and Alves are the best strikers that gsp fought. BJ's a LW and busted gsp up in their 1st fight. (how gsp got that decision is beyond me). so then gsp, like the coward that he is, lays on BJ for 4 rounds. gsp laid on Alves so hard that he pulled his own groin. lmao. i guess gsp doesn't have much confidence in his striking. zaksame
BEST striker is a sadly used term when comes to MMA.There is only a handful of strikers that you could even call strikers. Alves is a MUCH stronger hitter than Penn and the reason most thought Alves would beat GSP.He was stuffing take downs, the likes of Fitch, short stocky over weight,ya most thought he was the answer. It does not even matter if the quality of striker is there because EVERY fighter is a better striker than GSP.You don't ask if a AAA striker has fought a BEST striker because most likely they would all be inferior to him. Since every fighter is a better striker than GSP and MANY have been superior wrestlers with top notch pedigree and the Penn so called BJJ EXPERT,it does not matter what they throw at him. You NEED HEART/CARDIO/well rounded skills/SMARTS and of course you need to cheat a bit like so many have cheated GSP in the past.Steroids/weight cutting. look at the NEXT two threats, one is Eric a 185 castoff,so trying to outsize GSP again, and Hendricks a 200lb fighter AGAIN trying to outsize GSP.Pretty sad that MMA has become more about ways to get bigger/stronger than learning skills and working hard. TigerChamp
Yes they did and BJ is 1-0-0 (1NC) against Gonna Spew Petroleum. Deal with it. maybe in your own mind. not on record. in my mind roy nelson is the p4p goat. blee dat! as BJ Penn stepped into the octagon after the fight to essentially challenge St-Pierre to a rematch of their bout at UFC 58 in 2006' date=' which ended in a [b']split-decision victory for St-Pierre[/b]. The rematch occurred on January 31, 2009, at UFC 94. The first round of the fight was somewhat even, with Penn exercising elusive head movement, fast hands and good take-down defense, thwarting all of St-Pierre's take-down attempts while both exchanged punches. In the ensuing three rounds, however, Penn turned out a lackluster performance. St-Pierre scored his first take-down of the night midway through the second round and by the end of the round Penn was visibly tired. At the start of round three, St-Pierre landed a superman punch that bloodied Penn's nose and shortly took Penn down again. From that point on, St-Pierre took Penn down almost at will, repeatedly passed Penn's renowned guard and persistently punished the Hawaiian with a ground-and-pound attack.[44] Penn later admitted that he could not recall anything that happened during the 3rd and 4th rounds because "I was probably borderline knocked out or something."[45] At the end of the fourth round, after more of St-Pierre's ground-and-pound onslaught, Penn's corner man Jason Parillo requested that the referee stop the fight. Penn failed to attend the post-fight press conference due to having stayed in the hospital.
