Jgrif
Does Silva need to fight Jones more then Jones needs a fight with Silva? My opinion I think if Jones doesn't fight Silva he will always have that dark cloud hanging over his head of could he really beat him. The same could be said if Silva doesn't step up and fight Jones. So who is this fight more important too.... discuss ?

Toomanyhuggers
Anderson is undefeated for 6 years, and NO, Weidman is not the answer. Silva is not ducking him. He is a baby with one notable win over Munoz and you all start sucking his nuts. Is he sometimes annoying? Yes. Is his manager Ed Soares a *****? Definitely. Is he a loser who can't fight? LOL in your dreams. JBJ is smashing his weight class with his freakish size and pretty solid skills. A dbag? Sure. A pedo? maybe. A drunk? Absolutely. A loser who can't fight? not a chance in hell. GSP is just as good, he also needs to prove nothing. If GSP beats condit, it will just show this statement is true. If Condit beats GSP, then all the haters can relax. Is GSP boring? Like an ambien. Is he bi-curious? Seems so. Is he a loser who can't fight? No way. None of them need to do anything to prove themselves to anyone other than themselves. Anderson's legacy is already cemented, he could lose the next 3 and still be GOAT until someone beats his records. JBJ, GSP, Aldo, JDS are all on their way to greatness. Now he thinks he calls the shots after beating an injured, fat, out of shape, Munoz? C'mon man. When he goes on a 6 year undefeated run in the premier MMA organization, then he can maybe call the shots. As for this matchup, Jones needs it more. People attribute his success to his size and size only. Does he have skill? Sure. Does he have enough skill to thrive in his natural weight class? No. I think Jones would get smashed by the top 5 heavyweights.

Sisti
It depends who you are a fan of I'm a Jones fan so I think it's more imporant for Silva. In my opinion, Silva's records has more to do with the fact that his management keeps giving him fights against extremely low ranked opponents proportional to where he's at in his career. No other fighter has had that many matches against people they obviously outrank If you are a Silva fan you may be the person that keeps saying Jones is outsizing his opponent. For those people they will probably say Jones needs this fight more If you are not a fan of GSP you will say that he needs it more because he needs to prove himself after his lackluster performances So different people will say different things...whoever wins the fight of Silva/GSP or Silva/Jones if either happens will definitely win over a lot of fans they didn't have before

JBJ, GSP, Aldo, JDS are all on their way to greatness.[/quote'] +1 I agree with everything except that GSP is just as good. Jones and Andy are finishing opponents on a consistent basis and that takes a lot more skill. GSP isn't quite on thier level. He could be but because Serra stole his soul and he developed his game in a different direction he isn't nearly as good as he potentially could have been. He's close in that he's good at what he does but he's far in that what he does isn't really fighting anymore and takes less skill than focusing on finishing. His striking is overrated and without his wrestling isn't even that great. His jitz is good positionally but his submission skills are for the most part mediocre and his GnP used to be much much better but he's too cautious with it now. The only thing he's really outstanding at is wrestling and even that is a little overrated as he's somewhat of a one dimensional wrestler. He's not outstanding at judo or greco it's really only his singles and doubles that are outstanding. He is also an incredible athlete.

Pengu
Well Anderson doesn't need Jones, his place in history has been set a long time ago. Anderson doesn't need to fight Jones because it's not really a fair fight. Silva weighed in at 202 his last fight at 205. Jones is easily 220-225 I think they can all just stay in their divisions. the_bear413
So' date=' you know what Silva thinks and wants? Your point is invalid, by Silva's own words.[/quote'] Cause Silva doesn't want anything to do with a legacy, right? If Silva didn't care about leaving behind a legacy, why has he stayed in a division that he's clearly just too good for? Why not move up a weight-class and actually compete for the title? Fighting bottom of the barrel LHW's doesn't count. GSP could easily beat bad MWs, Jones could easily beat bad HWs. Hell, Demetrious Johnson could easily beat bad LWs. If any of them did that, I'd view it as wasted time. Silva doesn't want a legacy, yet he's been picking a fight with GSP through the media for most of 2012. Then he said he's never going to fight Jones. It must be a coincidence that Silva wants to fight the guy he has obvious physical advantages over, rather than the guy that he'd be giving those advantages too, right? At least GSP is honest. He wants to be remembered as the greatest of all time. He wants to leave behind a legacy, which is why he probably won't fight Silva, and why he probably won't ever leave WW. Silva, on the other hand, is doing exactly what GSP has been doing, yet saying otherwise.
