A lightweight matchup between "The Ultimate Figher: Live" cast members John Cofer (7-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) and Mike Rio (8-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) is set for December's The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale.

UFC officials today announced the new matchup, which is expected to take place on the evening's preliminary card.

The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale takes place Dec. 15 at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas with a main event between "TUF 16" coaches Shane Carwin and Roy Nelson. The evening's main card airs on FX, and preliminary bouts are expected to air on FUEL TV and stream on Facebook.

Cofer was part of Urijah Faber's team on "TUF: Live" and was selected as the squad's sixth pick after earning a unanimous decision over Mark Glover to earn his way into the house. However, Cofer was eliminated from the tournament in a round-of-16 loss to eventual semifinalist Vinc Pichel.

Cofer then made his official UFC debut at The Ultimate Fighter 15 Finale, where he was knocked out by Justin Lawrence in the third round. While the ending was violent, the entertaining bout was awarded the evening's "Fight of the Night" bonus.

Meanwhile, Rio fought under Dominick Cruz on "TUF: Live" and was the camp's fourth selection.

Rio earned his way on to the show with a submission win over Ali Maclean, but he was promptly booted in the round-of-16 by Andy Ogle. An injured Rio was unable to compete on the show's live finale, and he now makes his first official octagon appearance.

With the addition to the card, The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale card now includes:
