Immigration problem.

I honestly have very little problems with people that immigrate here if they do one simple task. Learn to speak English. I think we should give amnesty to all the immigrants currently in the country that can speak English pretty well. To the little ****ers that have lived in America for 20 years and never bothered to learn a word of English should have ankle bracelets put on them that if they get within 500 miles of the US they are electrocuted until they remove themselves from that distance.

I think it's ridiculous we try as a nation to cater to their needs of being extremely lazy. I wouldn't move to France and expect them to learn how to speak English to communicate with me. I think it's one of the most rude things someone can do.

Does this not bother anyone else? It really bothers me and today I had to deal with around 20 people that didn't speak a word of English and I don't speak a word of Spanish. I shouldn't be expected to speak Spanish tho!!!

I do want to clarify I don't have a problem with immigrants that actually make an effort to make themselves a part of this country by learning the native language. The ones I have to try to draw pictures repeatedly to get them to perform a simple task I could care less about tho.

Dude, no one should emigrate to another country unless they are prepared to learn and speak the language of the host country.

Furthermore, they should also accept the culture and customs of the host country they are moving to.

If you're at odds with the lifestyle of the people of the nation you wish to move to, then its simple.

Move to a country more suited to your beliefs and way of life.

I'm all for immigration, but assimilate yourself into the host country, not the other way round.

Maximumbob thanks man. I'm not alone in this world.

Yeah, its a touchy subject man, most people dare'nt bring it up openly because, immediately the shouts of ' racist' and 'bigot' etc, etc, tend to follow.

I had an email from my sister, who's a bit of a tree hugger, today. A freind of mine in England was on facebook moaning about this very thing and my sister was freakin out that i could have such a racist **** for a freind, lol.

I dont think she saw the irony in her attacking someone for attacking someone else, even though my freinds comments were entirely justified.

Soulpower i assume your from canada or america, mate if you think you have a problem it's not compared to England.

We let ANYONE into our country then put them up in a nice house with free money, we bend over and take what ever they give because we are scared to death of being called racist.

A lot of the Asians that come over here make no effort to integrate into our way of life and instead think our country should become more like there's.

There is a Civil war brewing here.

I will tell you something else that annoys me when you here rappers and the like going on about how they were ripped away from mother Africa, well news flash you don't like it nothing stopping you from ****ing off back.

I don't mean to be disrespectful, but why aren't you bilingual? I'm working on learning a third language right now, and will learn a fourth or fifth if I can.

Always kinda bothered me that so many Americans tend to be disinterested in foreign culture. And no it doesn't have to be Spanish, can be German, Mandarin, Arabic, ect ect.

Why should you have to learn another language if you never plan on leaving your country? Surely the empathise should be on the people moving to learn the native tounge.

I agree, immigrants should also accept and learn the native culture. Why not learn a second or third language? It opens up loads of opportunity and international travel is a freaking blast.

meri khushi vich buda sup. sala cutay lon jongula!!

Not sure how its spelled, thats just how its sound, but in east indian basically it means 'i have big snake in my trousers. get back to work and suck it'

here in canada we are stereotyped to be bilingual and speak french. other than tabarnac and mange la merde the only french that i can speak fluently is whatever i am saying when i get drunk and start slurring my words.

A couple years ago when i applied for UK residency i had to sit a test to prove i understood English. Some of the Asians in there never even got to sit the test as they didn't even understand simple instructions like "You'll be sitting at computer 3" or "over there on the left". I got some filthy looks when i started laughing when the people running it said they'd failed before even sitting down and told them to leave.

Some of the EU migrants are whole other level of ****ed up though. I work with quite a few Polish and I asked one of them that speaks really good English why some of them haven't even tried after being here years and he said some of said "I only talk to Polish and watch TV in Polish why would i learn to speak English"

Mate, i had England in mind when i made my earlier posts. Its totally ****** up, whats happening over there.

I'm sure the Government actually want a civil war to break out so they can clamp down even further. Every day the English culture and heritage is being wiped out in favour of immigrant demands.

Personally i think the EU is behind this way of thinking. If they water down the identity of each nation state within Europe to the point of non existence, it becomes easier to introduce the super state.

No longer does any one nation have an identity to cling to, so in effect there is nothing left to defend

A third theory is the rise of Radical Islam across Europe. Get a copy of America Alone by Mark Steyn, Read it and all of a sudden whats happening in England and across Europe begins to make sense

Myself, i think all three have a part in whats happening. It is not looking good mate!.

If people are worried about immigrants not speaking English' date=' move to England. English is their language. Being the melting pot that we are, I don't believe we have a "National" Language.[/quote']

For any country to remain cohesive it must have a language common to all its citizens, which is almost always the language the country was founded upon.

Without a common language to unite a population, you have nothing more than a collection of different nationalities at odds with each other.

English is also the universal language of the developed world, not just England, no one-upmanship there, just fact, so it makes sense to adopt the language if moving to an English speaking nation.

What's our constitution written in? I think this perfectly explains our language. Our pledge of Allegiance was written in English it is spoken in English and our nation anthems are written as well as spoken in English. It's pretty much our language I don't know if you will have much luck debating this. Also what sort of solution is that to just simply move? If you get a neighbor you don't particularly like do you simply move across town? You must move a lot/find new jobs often if this is how you handle inconveniences. I'm upset because I feel as if this is not the way people should be allowed to handle their lives. Doesn't mean I should move because of their stupidity/rudeness.

I'm instead going to protest and not purchase any items from or receive service from someone that cannot have a functional conversation (by functional I mean just to the standards I would have with a 3 year old) I feel if I start this protest hopefully others join in and then it creates a chain reaction where in America we demand the .05% to step in line and stop inconveniencing the other 99.5% and buy Rosetta stone or some ****.

coming from someone that is currently wearing an anklet(of course not the execution edition you speak of :P) it really sucks...and killing someone is never the right answer...i think people should want to learn other languages and communicate with others in a civil manner...the little spanish/french i speak that i learned throughout my education helps a lot, im not fluent but i can hold a conversation with spanish kinda laughing/smirking but at least i put in the effort and they respect and appreciate it...and some people arent fortunate enough for a great education so theres always grey areas to any argument we all should just be more accepting of everyone no matter what really... everyone's different and in that sense we all gotta make it so lets accept it...

I've had to wear an ankle bracelet. I think you perhaps are taking it slightly too literally tho. The thing you need to realize is these people have lived in America for years and years and never learned a word of the native language. So as far as I'm concerned they can go **** themselves I will not learn Spanish I literally learned ASL in high school then cheated with online Spanish classes where I never had to learn a word of Spanish. Say I got a badass job that said they wanted me to go to Spain the next day I would take it then learn Spanish as best I could because it's polite to make simple conversations not have to take 30 minutes to get a sentence explained.

I feel like it would be inappropriate for me to learn their native language to speak to them in my own country when they live here as well.

thus the grey area...you only would TRY to learn it if you had too and cheated when you had to make a grade instead of putting in an honest effort to learn..why do they need to learn our language if they can come here and work hard for ****** wages and get by and make ends meet to support themselves or their families if you dont show them the same gratitude...yes they are here in america but as i said if they are able to do enough to get by and can UNDERSTAND what they are supposed to do from their employer and the laws and such i dont think its that big of a deal...just another person living their life, just like you...no one is better or lesser than anyone, especially the ones that think they are either of the two...

My respect for you has increased tenfold. Great job on your posts and views. You have my respect from henceforth.

Thesoulpower, you should focus on maybe teaching the Americans how to properly speak and write it before you diss immigrants. English is not my native language, yet I speak and write it better than 99% of the people I know. Now that is sad.

I guess in your country they don't believe in reading the whole post before commenting on it.

Look here's the deal this was a post directed towards an issue I had trying to communicate with. I feel it's frustrating for me to be in America and have to have someone translate for a person who has lived in a country for 20 years and never bothered to learn a word of the language. The example I used is if I moved to France I wouldn't expect them to speak English to cater to my needs I would learn French because that's their god damn language. Don't move there if you don't want to learn how to communicate with them!!!!

I have to yet to meet an American that I couldn't communicate with so that whole bit of your argument is really unnecessary. If you really read these posts (which you clearly have not) I'm not asking for a bunch of perfect English speakers. I simply ask for them to be able to read and write to the point of being able to communicate simple tasks.

@Prideneverdied I really respect your posts and appreciate your contribution but the point I'm trying to make seems to be going either poorly written or just not being communicated well so I decided not to repeat my posts. One last part you said they learn enough to get by which is simply not the case they learn enough to where I and other English speaking Americans have to spend an hour trying to tell them to do the simplest of tasks. The whole reason this thread was created was due to them not actually learning enough. Do they survive? Of course because we suffer through their laziness which is insulting and I personally hate that we have to deal with it.

Then again France isn't known as the Melting Pot nor was half of France once a part of a Spanish speaking country.

I wonder why half of the American states have Latin derived names. Could it be because maybe they speak Spanish?

Here's a little FYI. Only 28 of the 50 states have English as their official language. The US as a country does NOT have an official language EVEN IF English is the most common language. A little under 350 languages are spoken in the US. Out of those, 176 are INDIGENOUS to those areas. Perhaps maybe you should try to learn some of those languages since you are on THEIR land?
