Brady969
Watched an "educational" cartoon for kids with my daughter and was disappointed. The lesson was to not overly brag about winning because it makes others feel bad. I agree that we shouldn't teach our kids to brag but there was no lesson to teach your kid not to be a weak p---y when someone else wins, instead they taught kids it was ok to feel bad when someone else brags about winning and they made the winner out to be the bad guy. Obviously this was a cartoon created by the 'Y' generation. The same generation that 'expected' an allowance when they were kids, 'expected' a great job right out of college without working their way to the top, huge salaries, an overly priced wardrobe they can't afford, expensive cars while they're in huge college debt and no clue how they lost they're home in a foreclosure because they were living way beyond their means. Now these s--t heads are teaching my daughter backwards lessons. Yeah, I'm going to be THAT father. Prey you're not a teacher for my daughter unless you want my daughter to work for things in life. She won't be accepting a trophy for 9th place and crying when someone else brags that they've won.

Rakenshi1243
Lol this is peewee bull****, not corporate America. You should strive to teach your little girl to be successful AND humble, and I'd be careful not to make her so ambitioous that she forgets to enjoy the present, and not constantly look towards the future. I'm not a father though yet though, so I'm not very experienced when it comes to kids.

It sets a better example for the losers and builds character in the winners. I totally get Brady's rant here though. The wussification of parents seems to be getting worse with each generation. It seems more prevalant people teaching thier children to be too dependant on others which doesn't allow them to become self sufficient enough to overcome adversity. Instead they develop a losing attitude of entitlement and not taking responsibility which is counter productive for developing a winning attitude of working hard for what you desire and being responsible so you can constantly improve. KINGnoob
I completely agree. Its like an argument I heard come from a teachers union lobbyist. His argument was literally "we dont want to fire teachers because it would affect their self worth". WTF?! I might hate the left. X(

I agree that most kids show concentrate on developing relationships with others, not about building success. I will say this though, it is a lot more difficult to be successful straight out of high school now than it used to be. A lot of young adults end up staying home and going to local schools due to their financial situation, since most of them can only find low end jobs. This basically allows you a steady low income but with basically no expenses, and parents just seem to have a hard time weening these kids off. If you want young adults to be successful, you need to give them affordable access to get out of the house and paying for their own ****. You learn responsibility by being on your own, not at home. But it's more important to be proud of what you've accomplished (not cry about it). I think a good parent knows when to uplift and teach their kid to hold their head high but to also let their children feel defeat. It's important. A good parent lets their kid feel defeat and then lifts them up. There has to be balance. The pussifacation of our children has to stop.

Absolutely! Living at home at 25 only cripples a person.

Brady969
That's what happens when you let television teach your kids.. Television has some good educational programs for kids. I guess I could get some puppets, write a script, build a puppet set, hire some puppeteers and teach her that way. Or we could watch it together and then I can explain why kids are little pu---ies these days.

I didn't mean to lessen your performance, I was only pointing that some people would say that 3rd. place or 9th. place aren't much different; I was really just disagreeing with the original idea of this thread.
