There you ****es go. I removed my name address routing and check number. Great research though kevbo! :))

wow 10.80 is a comfortable base rate. Not livable IMO but definitely a better "safety net" that many restaurants offer

O
Agreed. Aggravating isn't it? With the way the tax system works for tipped employees, my check was 34 dollars. 65 hours on, and I got 34 dollars. Between the busy holiday and the increase I got seriously fisted.

your take home pay was 34 dollars? that is mindblowing

That's an hourly take home rate of at or around $0.52. There are children working in Taiwanese sweat shops at better rates than that. He's either exaggerating, or lying because that is against the law. Literally...

thats what I was thinking, that's so low that he couldn't possibly survive and be at college

oh he is in the top 13% of wage earners in your country. He said so himself.

I never personally said I do. People at my restaurant make over 100k a year though. I dont care if you believe me.

Its Vegas! Big money big tips is how we roll. Stay angry. lmao

Missed this post. I think your wage is decent for a server, but pathetic overall. I'm not mad, I just call a liar a liar. You said your top 13% of the country. You lied, now you post you wage and its nowhere even close. Whoop dee doo

He also said his "gf" earlier in the thread, but later tells us he married in August. Hard to believe someone would make that mistake going on their 5th month of marriage...

I didnt lie. I never once said I make in the top 13%. I said servers in my restaurant do. Your lust for me being wrong has clouded your ability to comprehend text. I make the lowest in my restaurant. Im the newest member so I do not get tables like Dana White for example. Business conventions bring in huge dollars as well.

And watch it on that pathetic comment. You could be offending a lot of people. Just for clarity sake thats $65,000 at 33 hours a week.

I often work that or less and make more. All the while, not wasting time staying in college for 42 years.

You're seriously retarded and your picture proves it. Don't try to make it out like you made $38.19 on $2500 gross pay. You seem to forget that you included your deductions in this picture and anyone even slightly competent in math can call you on your bull****. Nice try though. Stay in school kid. You need it.

You may not like the amount you were taxed, or agree with the tax system at all, but you were misleading everyone the way you presented this.

So you make me look foolish by creating a strawman of your own? You don't even understand your own income champ. If you're seriously trying to pass off your own pay stub as proof of your "turrible" tax rate, I don't even know what to say. You're exercising levels of retardation that are mind boggling. Then again, that would explain how you thought 65,000 or even 100,000 would put you anywhere near the top of income earners in the US.

No I wasn't. I even explained it in previous post.

The one I responded to you on.

I guess it's my fault assuming that everyone understood I take cash home every single night. So let's make that clear. I take money home every single night. That's what a tipped position is. Lmao. Can't believe that needed to be said.

I'm not angry, I'm actually feeling sympathetic of your stupidity.

1.) Your take home is not $38.19(you don't even realize you proved yourself wrong by posting your stub). It doesn't matter whether the source is tips or wages. You were wrong.

2.) I said wages for servers was $2.15. Yours, as per your own stub is neither less, nor taxed more than anyone else in that line of work. Ergo, I was right again, and you're too stupid to realize you're wrong. Again...

3.) You know what? **** this. I don't have time for your ignorance right now...

I never said what my take home is. I was only commenting on the increase in taxes and what my check represents. Maybe the disconnect is that your check is your source of pay mine is tips.

My checks are usually about a hundred bucks. And like I said in the original post, between the busy holiday (tips were high) and the increase in tax I really got fisted. Where was I lying with that? You are buried beneath your own strawman.

@classic I'm not trying to mislead you. My taxes went up. I was simply agreeing with the OP. I tried to make everyone understand why my check was so low in my original response to you. I even thought we were on the same page. Apparently not lol

There is no strawman and you didn't get fisted... It's also becoming increasingly obvious that you don't know what a strawman fallacy is, because you're the one who's actually committing said fallacy. I refuted your original position. You then go on about how "angry" I am, and other nonsense that's irrelevant to my refutation.

Your tips are on the stub brah. You're trying to play the "oh poor me, my wages were taxed at normal rates and was only $38.19. Feel sorry for me guys" bit. I don't normally agree with classicboxer, but he is right. You were misleading to push your own personal agenda. You actually pay what many would consider a fair rate. Plus you have the opportunity to earn tips that are not reported, which you have admitted to doing. Cry us a river. Wait until you have a real job, and make good money. Actually, don't. Stay in college for another 16 years. You clearly need it...

can you just tell me how much your take home pay went down by? I don't care about the arguments

Mine didn't. I actually got a raise to offset the increase because I work a real job for a good company and not a ****ty casino restaurant. :P

I have no real true connection to my job seeing as there is a reason I'm going to school, so your post really doesn't bother me. But man I would never ever tell someone there job wasn't real. Thats just ****ing rude. Most of my coworkers are married with families, and that job feeds those people. And they are hard working people. Grow up Kevblo!

You don't want to be taxed even $1 otherwise you'll feel as if you are fisted by the government. Yet, you probably use roads that are repaired by the government, police watching out for your streets, and other government services that you may not even be aware of for now and in the future.

It's similar to how a person who uses entitlement programs and than consistently complains about all entitlement programs.

Fair point. I would rather a private company handle transportation and me have the option to use said service. As it stands right now I pay into a system that I may never use.

Born in a Hospital that gets subsidies from the Government.

Educated publicly that is paid for by the Government.

Protected by the Military, Police, Fire, Ambulance that is funded/subsidized by the Government.

Uses roads, water, electricity, sewer, public transport, Air transport that get subsidized by the Government.

Then continues to **** about him being taxed even one dollar because he can choose to use the services other times?

You are a very ignorant child who needs to grow up. You do not even pay what you take from the Government for the cost of what you use. Think about that kid, just please think about that before you open your yap again.

This is getting pathetically redundant.

If I paid 1 dollar in tax I would say I was getting fisted. You think I'm ok with being taxed normal rates? Oh kevbo its like you don't know me brah.

8-}

Sense... You're making too much of it. He also attends a State university IIRC. Care to explain to him the hypocrisy in that?

I can not currently Dodge the system that is in place. All I can do is disagree with it and promote what I believe would be better. To call me a hypocrite for being born in a hospital is pretty ****ing retarded.

No but to call you a hypocrite because you complain about your contributions to the Government, when you have used way more than you have ever given is the height of hypocrisy.

But continue to keep crying, its seems to be your thing.

can you just tell me how much your take home pay went down by? I don't care about the arguments

Mine didn't. I actually got a raise to offset the increase because I work a real job for a good company and not a ****ty casino restaurant. :P

I have no real true connection to my job seeing as there is a reason I'm going to school, so your post really doesn't bother me. But man I would never ever tell someone there job wasn't real. Thats just ****ing rude. Most of my coworkers are married with families, and that job feeds those people. And they are hard working people. Grow up Kevblo!

:-@

I'm willing to bet that they don't **** about their jobs on an MMA forum either, do they? That's the difference, and also what makes you appear to be an unbelievably entitled ****nozzle...

Point to where I ****ed about my job.

I cannot dodge the system that is in place either. No one can. You have an ideology of what you feel is better and that's perfectly fine. But, is it realistic to say everything should be privatized in terms of how feasible that is? On the same note, would be it more effective (in terms of cost and how effective the product/service is) for you and society in general if every possible thing was privatized?

I don't even think everything being privatized is a feasible/realistic answer. It's always a mixture of the two in society.

Quite simply put, no. It's not realistic. Anyone claiming for privatizing all aspects of society and claiming libertarian is misinformed. All that is, is oligarchy. When the market dictates all aspects of society, it is bound to be overrun by an elite few. It's always been that way without some form of government constructs. Having a free market and privatization of all aspects of society is not an end all solution to all issues a society faces. It's very naive to think it is.

Bjjnoob do you even claim your tips? I bet you don't claim nearly all of them which means you get all the benifets of honest tax payers yet you prob contribute very little. As far as private companies handling everything its completely unrealistic you need at least some government programs.

It sounds like he doesn't want small government, rather he wants no government? Thats what I took from that

You are correct. He is an Anarcho-Capitalist. It's a pipedream ideology that many young adults cling to in their "anti-establishment" period of life. It just appears that BJJ has clung to it a bit longer than most due to him being in college for forever.

well, its kind of obvious that would never ever work, right? Government is a 100% necessary evil in all countries. I think a country as big as America needs more government

Try debating an AnCap on the pragmatism of their ideology. I am willing to bet that if you have hair on your head, you won't have any at the end from pulling it out in extreme frustration towards their stubbornness.

Im on a compliance. If you look at it my stub theres a portion that says declared tip with an amount on it. 1800 or whatever. That is the number the DoF of my company and the IRS have agreed upon that I should pay. They take the total sales of the restaurant for a year and figure out what they believe I make extra per hour in tips. In this case they believe I make about 28per hour in tips in addition to my standard rate of 10.80. So I get taxed at a rate relative to $38.80 an hour.

Now I am allowed to decline the compliance. However, that comes with getting audited. So instead of going through the process of trying to prove to the IRS what I make every year, I just abide by that set rate.

Basically the reason my check is 38 dollars is because I am contributing. Look at it this way. My checks gross was $700 dollars. I got to keep 38 dollars. Thats 662 in taxes out of one check. I am contributing plenty!

Just so we Canadians dont look like total cheapo's we do not have any area's in this counrty where they are allowed to pay $2.15/hour just because they are a server at a restaurant there is a minimum wage and that is the least anyone can get paid. I travel the USA alot for work and i have heard that Canadians are supposedly bad tippers, but for myself i usually leave a 10%-25% tip and sometimes 0% when i get crap service or an attitude or crap food{now i know that the server is not responsible for the food prep} and the server is the one that brings the food out and knows what the order was so when they bring out the wrong food it sort of looks bad on them in my mind. But more to the point that he had a Canadian are Cheap thread well i say maybe you should be thank-ful they spent their money to go to vegas and therefore your employer had money to employ you and be happy with that at least as I am sure many Canadians do not know the wacky pay laws in the states and maybe some just think that paying for a meal is tip enough. :D

You don't pay any more than anyone else. One more thing, if you were truly concerned about your taxes, you'd take the audit and dig for any possible deductions you can find. But if you did that, you'd have to report your tips and it would take away your reasons for your incessant whining.
