Charles575
When I saw this news, I was a bit disappointed because that fight had the potential to be great, but the real story here for me is that . . . Khabib Nurmagomedov is a coward! Nurmagomedov has been moaning on twitter for weeks how everyone is scared to fight him, but when a fight comes up against a guy with a name Melvin Guillard Khabib does not step up to the plate. Khabib Nurmagomedov = All bark no BITE!
Leiting
Do we know for a fact that Nurmagomedov was offered the fight? And considering he was in line to fight Melendez, I find it illogical that he would be afraid to fight Guillard. Not taking anything away from Melvin, he's a superb athlete, but in my estimation, and I would believe most other's as well, Gilbert Melendez is a much more difficult opponent. Charles575
You really things guy who has been blowing up Dana's twitter for a fight asap was not offered the fight? Melendez does not hit as hard as Guillard, if he is not afraid he is being a diva like DC and trying to pick his fights.

Charles575
Why would you go from targeting a top 5 opponent to an unranked fighter? Because rankings don't mean anything, beating fighters with names is much more important for your career - Gain popularity = Cash = Title shot There is a thread about this on the front page, 2 below your thread. Where? I look on the first two pages and there is no mention of this.

Because rankings don't mean anything, beating fighters with names is much more important for your career - Gain popularity = Cash = Title shot The rankings mean a lot for advancing in the weight class Khabib would be fighting a guy not ranked in the top 15 according to the UFC's rankings he should of fought Johnson at least he is ranked and Guillards name really doesn't mean anything anymore. Khabib is currently ranked 6th and is undefeated with 21-0 Guillard if you don't count the NC is on a 1 fight winstreak over someone on a 3 fight skid currently. Taking that fight wouldn't put him any closer to a title shot. If he was gonna fight someone outside of the top 10 he should of fought Johnson. Now would it be a good fight? Heck yes I'd buy a PPV with that fight on it but it would do virtually nothign to further Khabib's career. It would do tons for Guillards though. UFCCagerattler
He doesn't want Guillard. Too much risk for too little return. A beating by Melendez doesn't hurt him as bad as a beating by Guillard.

cashflow
Yeah, Khabib should offer up himself to fight Guillard. While we're at it, Junior Dos Santos should step up and fight Nikita Krylov, and Vitor needs to quit ducking Lorenz Larkin. WHAT??

cashflow
I'd love to see Lauzon choke out Khabib in a 24 hour fight. Much less 47 seconds... Melvin and his fat 2-4-1 record in his last seven is looking at which organization to sign with when he loses to Johnson. I'd say go with Bellator, Melvin.
