Can a Champ lose belt due to DQ?

Of course, they fight under the same rules. There would almost certainly be an immediate rematch though, unless the champ was getting dominated before the illegal blow.

Except for Georges who can grease, stall and miss weight. Anderson in that rematch against Sonnen where he was allowed to grease, grab trunks repeatedly and grab the fence to throw an illegal knee at a grounded opponent.

The thigh is part of your leg and struck Sonnen in the face.

Anderson was trying everything he could to make that fight not happen and proceeds to cheat throughout the entire fight when they let it go on. He tried to fight Chael at the pre fight press conference. He struck Chael in the face with a cheap shot at the weigh ins.

Having to fight Chris Weidman in his next title defense was karma coming back to haunt him via getting knocked the **** out with a left hook followed by breaking his leg in the rematch.

If you want to start getting that technical, the rule is that you can't knee a downed opponent in the face, and while the thigh might be part of the leg, it's not part of the knee.

It was a legal strike.

Really? I didn't know it was legal to grab the cage before throwing any strike. Good to know.

IMO all pushing off the cage strikes should be illegal.Including the Petis kick.

You can't knee to the face of a downed opponent either.

Grabbing the shorts... yes illegal and he did it repeatedly. He also greased and threw a cheap shot at the weigh ins. What a humble champion he was...

Watching him get knocked the **** out by a 9-0 wrestler was the greatest moment in combat sports.

Yup. That, and watching him go limp from an arm punch in the clinch in their second fight was great too.

He's not humble & i don't like his questionable tactics but he does come to fight and put on a show and i respect his skills.

It really isn't. When guys cage walk their toes are through the cage grabbing on just like fingers would be. Im sure if you took a freeze frame of PEtis' foot on the cage you would see his toes are through the links.

It's not having your fingers, or toes through the cage that's illegal. It's using them to grip onto the fence.

Pushing is completely fine. Grabbing is not.
