North Korea has promised "merciless" retaliation if a forthcoming Hollywood movie about killing Kim Jong-un is released, say agencies.

 

A North Korean foreign ministry spokesman said in state media that the movie's release would be an "act of war".

 

He did not mention the title, but a Hollywood movie called The Interview with a similar plot is due in October.

 

Hollywood actors James Franco and Seth Rogen star in the action-comedy film.

 

They play a talkshow host and his producer who are invited to interview Kim Jong-un, and are subsequently recruited by the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to assassinate the leader.

 

The film's teaser trailer, posted on Youtube, shows a lookalike actor playing Kim Jong-un, as well as fight scenes involving what appear to be North Korean tanks and helicopters, and a nuclear missile launch.

 

The North Korea spokesman was quoted by the state KCNA news agency as saying: "Making and releasing a movie on a plot to hurt our top-level leadership is the most blatant act of terrorism and war and will absolutely not be tolerated."

 

He added that the "reckless US provocative insanity" of mobilising a "gangster filmmaker" to challenge the North's leadership was triggering "a gust of hatred and rage" among North Korean people and soldiers.

 

"If the US administration allows and defends the showing of the film, a merciless counter-measure will be taken," the spokesman was quoted as saying.

 

Apparent evidence emerged last week supporting claims that North Korea is further developing its missile technology. Some experts said they had identified a new anti-ship cruise missile shown in a North Korean propaganda film. Other observers were more sceptical.

 

North Korea is holding three Americans in custody. The latest to be detained is said to be a tourist named Jeffrey Edward Fowle who reportedly left a Bible at a hotel.

 

Rogen, one of the directors of The Interview, recently said he was inspired by journalists' trips to North Korea.

 

He told Yahoo: "People have the hypothetical discussion about how journalists have access to the world's most dangerous people, and they hypothetically would be in a good situation to assassinate them."

 

He added that the film was originally about meeting Kim Jong-il, but they had to revise the script when he died in 2011 and his son Kim Jong-un took power.

We would dominate North Korea, the U.N would never sanction that beating.

 

The UN never sanctions any beating. They want to settle every conflict by discussing it endlessly until people just forget about whatever the problem was and move on to a new problem. If North Korea would level a major US city tommorrow the UN would bring out a big pot of coffee to sit down and talk about it. The UN are a bunch of cans that duck everyone and everything out there.

First of all, those idiots would have to provoke us, because our president is the biggest **** I've ever seen in my life.

 

Secondly, if we went over there, that **** would be called United States of Korea after one year. That's an entire country full of little people. Are they serious?

The only chance that North Korea would have at doing any major damage to the U.S. would be a long range nuke or missile. With how ****ty their missile program is they would probably blow themselves up way before ever hitting the U.S. If they are just trying to provoke us then they could hit South Korea but if they fire any nukes or missiles then they would have half of the world coming down on them.

north korea would nuke south korea, they wouldnt openly attack america because its to far for them to reach.

 

america would never engage korea in an open war however because a country today is a business and it does not make financial sense to engage in a huge conflict with north korea, Even though the world knows that attrocities on a scale of gassing the jews take place inside north korea nobody lifts a finger.

 

North korea isnt some arab country full of peasants it would be a grueling war and nukes would most likely be the only option because like imperial japan the citizens are devout

Yeah, but they're all 5'4 and 120 lbs.

 

We could send over 500 alphas without weapons and we'd run that country in a week.

Nope, it's an Asian country full of peasants. Having a nuke doesn't make them a world power, they are using technology we had seventy years ago. We could park an aircraft carrier a few miles from their shores and shut down their airspace in a matter of hours. You don't honestly think they have any advantage militarily do you?

 

In 1950's the had the advantage of numbers, the game has changed quite a bit since then. The Iraqi army had superior numbers and we dismantled their entire country in two weeks. Not to mention the fact that China is much less likely to intervene on their behalf today.
