America
Alexander Gustafsson has signed a new multi-fight deal with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, announcing on Instagram that he “will be fighting very soon.” The Swedish mixed martial artist also took a shot at UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier, who has publicly stated that he will retire before his 40th birthday in 2019. The details of Gustafsson’s contract were not revealed, but he said that he has secured “the biggest deal” of his career. The UFC light-heavyweight contender has not fought since May 2017, when he knocked out Glover Teixeira at UFC Fight Night 109. Before that, the 31-year-old Alliance MMA representative defeated Jan Błachowicz at UFC Fight Night 93 by unanimous decision. Gustafsson has a 10-4 record in the UFC and has won three “Fight of The Night” bonuses. The highlight of Gustafsson’s career are two spectacular and close fights for the UFC light heavyweight title: one against Jon Jones on Sept. 21, 2013 at UFC 165, and the other at UFC 192 when “The Mauler” faced Cormier. Gustafsson lost both these fights by a close margin in fights that went the distance. With Cormier set to face Stipe Miocic in a superfight for the UFC heavyweight crown at UFC 226 and his comments on facing Brock Lesnar, it wouldn't be too surprising to see Gustafsson compete for a hypothetical light heavyweight interim belt until the actual belt can be defended

skillandpower
Gus is the right guy on the wrong moment. He gave cocaine Jones a hell of a challenge and did pretty well against DC. Give the dude a break. Im glad he signed another deal
ijosef
I'm a bigger fan of the guy after he appeared on Joe Rogan's MMA podcast (which is basically the same as the JRE, just with an MMA fighter or personality). Gustafsson seemed down to earth and easy to relate to, and he spoke very openly.
Bohemoglu13
I'm a bigger fan of the guy after he appeared on Joe Rogan's MMA podcast (which is basically the same as the JRE, just with an MMA fighter or personality). Gustafsson seemed down to earth and easy to relate to, and he spoke very openly. I agree. He seemed to enjoy being a regular dude, who is obviously extremely talented. The best LHW not named JJ or DC. When he said he goes and has some beer and pizza and lives a little, those are the times I'd like to hang out with him, bet he is a good time. He was also very respectable to Jones and DC. which, annoyed the heck out of me when Jones came back on Twitter saying "YOU'LL NEVER BEAT ME, I PROMISE" Gus spent a good few minutes saying he is the greatest LHW and just beating him in general is bigger than taking the belt. He acknowledged him as one of the greatest, he makes Gus train harder and get more and more hungry. And Jones just comes out and is a d***. Maybe just me, but it is hard to like someone that you can't be respectable to or disrespectful to, you get the same type of response and isn't worth your time.
