how do you all feel about the UFC putting these veterans that have been with the company for years, putting on show after show....on free fights on Fox when they could be PPV fights? I am ignorant when it comes to PPV points I admit. But Cub/Frankie (though, after watching it wasn't that action packed) fight had the makings to be a huge fight. If they promoted it more, got them both talking more, I think they would have been both a little more motivated to go in there and fight. I think we can all agree the last few PPVs have had 1-2 good fights, rest of the card aren't fights to promote because most people don't know them. Then you have fights like Aldo/Stephens on a free fox card, which won't get promoted very well, it is a slap in the face for the vets that are still doing it at such a high level.

I could be totally off and that is why I am asking.

You kind of ruined your own point when you mentioned Frankie v Swanson which was ****e.... also... when exactly was the last veteran fight that was good enough to sell a PPV?

I don't disagree with you. But also, if you don't market a fight that looks good on paper that you can sell, that has to affect the fighters somewhat. Not saying tour the world, but to not market the fight at all. I feel like the fight flew right under the radar it was happening. Talking a little smack and getting that bad blood feel has to motivate a fighter some. When you are just going through the motions of training camp and getting in the octagon, ho-hum. That fight basically took a fighter out of contention in the division and giving a 2nd/3rd life to the other one. Cub isn't going to get those big fights anymore, Frankie going in there winning, but nothing spectacular, maybe he gets another crack at Ortega. Cub won't. He'll fight the losers of the coming fights, keep getting fed young kids coming up.

As for some vets selling PPVs...the first 3 fights on the last 4 PPVs at least, aren't selling anything either. have the last 4 PPVs even sold 400k total? Putting some of those fights on there definitely wouldn't hurt. Hard to sell a PPV with 2 fights, give us 3 decent fights, definitely ups the possibility of people buying.

These "Vets" you speak of cannot even pull in viewership on a none PPV Fox card but you are suggesting they can sell a PPV?

Putting people on fox cards gets them more exposure in the US since millions of people will watch compared to the couple of hundred thousand on a ppv. If they put on a good scrap it can get people excited to see them fight again. Aldo might miss out on ppv points if he still gets them but that is the only drawback. Stephens isn't getting ppv points.

I was about to like your post but then you mentioned Stephen. I watch that fight more because of Stephen than Aldo.

Makdessi vs Pearson is actually a good matchup.  John might make it kinda gay with some kicks but they should throw hands.  Sleeper fight between two shop worn cans.  You heard it hear first.

I'm not sure if he's fully recovered from the headkick canada, although he did squeak mabel
