Cannabis is a prohibited substance in-competition in most combat sports jurisdictions, but only over a certain threshold. Only if an athlete tests positive for more than 150 ng/ml of cannabis in a sample collected in-competition will that athlete be sanctioned by the regulatory body.

Things are different in Illinois, though. The Illinois State Athletic Commission (ISAC) has a zero-tolerance policy for banned substances, including marijuana. There is no such threshold for cannabis, so if a fighter tests positive for even a small amount of the drug he or she can be suspended, fined and possibly have a win overturned.

Bellator 198 is also affected, wonder who will pop and who won't, hopefully the fighters were warned before hand so they could have cut it out long before the fight

It's not like this is the first time either company has gone to Illinois for events, so unless their rules changed recently, I'm not sure why this is a news story.

News worthy enough for the UFC to send out a memo to every fighter on the card warning them to stop smoking asap because of the regulations

Let them smoke. It doesn't enhance performance whatsoever. I have to be stoned out of my mind to get through some of these events lately. Only fair if the fighters can get high too.

Completely agree, I don't like the **** myself, don't agree with it either, but you cannot allow **** like Alcohol if you have a problem with a bit of weed

Sure, that makes sense since plenty of the fighters likely haven't fought in the state before, but unless something has changed since the last time there was a big event in Illinois, I'm not sure why this needs to be reported by MMA sites.

this is true but it's not asking much to have fighters just not smoke to begin with until this chit gets straightened out

if they were serious about there job they wouldn't test positive to begin with
