Top three hands in MMA

StompGrind

Recommended Posts

Was watching some Saenchai fights earlier. Got me thinking about who the best kickers are in MMA.

My top three in no order.

- Yair Rodriguez
- Wonderboy Thompson
- Edson Barboza

Got me thinking after who are the top 3 with hands?

I have a few ideas but i'm kinda at a loss for anyone that really stands out like the kickers do to me.

Inb4Perry...but who else?

Kicks

Barbozo

Showtime

Yair

Hands

Ngannou

Garbrandt

Whittaker

Honorable mention to Lil Heathen

Edit: On second thought Wonderboy should be ahead of Yair. His kicks aren't as flashy but they are much more effective and he should be a UFC champ. Yair will never be top 5.

Whats the point of being a good kicker if you dont have any other weapons to distract in order to land the strong kicks (Ie pettis, yair, barbozo)?

Distance for one.  Controlling range via threat of dangerous long range weapons is especially important in MMA. Most of Jon's success comes from that along with being excellent in the clinch both striking and grappling along with vicious GnP. In the lighter weight classes i think it's much harder to do. You have to be a lot more well round imo.

That being said all the people you mentioned do have other skills but they're all way tew invested in kicking imo.

One of those guys was a champion, so clearly he has more than just kicks.

He can choke people.  Hell in his first professional MMA fight he demo'd some can.  All hands.  Anthony is having issues mentally IMO.  This guy was making light work of guys like Cerrone and Lauzon.  I thought Joe was dead for a moment.  His losses are against top tier opposition but he's not performing.

I gave him every chance in the world as a betting option until the Poirier fight.  I knew Poirier would stop him.  However against a chump like Chiesa who was somehow favored I had all kinds of parlays with Pettis.  Conor owes all the Pettis +115 guys money as well.

I've been talking with my lawyer.  His advice is that not even completely legal gambling is a bad stance.  I think I'm still going to sue him though.  He'll throw me a stack of high society and we'll call it day.

Conor got outboxed by Nate Diaz. How's anyone saying he has the best hands?

I mean c'mon, Nate was mocking him with SLAPS!

Top 3 best hands:

Formerly - Vitor Belfort

Currently - Francis Ngannou

Presently - Floyd Mayweather

Hands: Conor McGregor

             Rumble Johnson

             Cody Garbrandt

(For some reason feel like Gastelum deserved an honourable mention. His boxing has been getting much slicker)

Kicks: Edson Barboza

            Justin Gaethje

            Wonderboy Thompson

Fingers: Jon Jones

Oh

I feel like anyone saying Gaethje has the best kicks in mma is referring to leg kicks and is talking out of their àss.

Sorry.

Thiago Alves and the somewhat lesser known Jose Aldo are far too easily forgotten.
