Wait, what?

The UFC is going to ESPN and Helwani is going too?  Did Dana and Ariel kiss and make up or something?  I thought they had him shlt-canned from Fox.

I was always under the impression that Lorenzo was the one who had issues with Helwani more so than Dana. Not sure why, but I feel like I heard he was the one behind FOX letting him go and him getting briefly banned.

Also, maybe ESPN is just less willing to cave to that kind of BS than FOX was.

Yeah, I keep forgetting that all of that went down (him getting his credentials pulled) right around the time the Fertittas were trying to sell the company.

Espn Plus is getting a bunch of cards too, fightpass is going to die out.. Espn+ just had the Terrence Crawford v Jeff Horn fight on there 2 weekends ago i think it flopped.

Fight Pass will be mainly just the library in the USA but ESPN is only a U.S deal so the rest of the world will still watch the cards on Fightpass from what been said.

Sounds like he's going to be doing something on ESPN Plus, I don't even know what that is.  Is that a streaming platform?

It's their new streaming service. It's where most of the UFC content is going to be in the US starting next year. Only 10 of the 30 ESPN events are going to be on TV. The rest are all on ESPN+.

So Fight Pass is going to become obsolete as far as live events?

SMH, then does the ESPN thing start?  November?  I'll have to remember to cancel my membership before it automatically renews for 12 months in December.

no fightpass wont carry the espn+ content. ESPN is trying to build their streaming service internationally, they solely own the rights to those cards when they are live

Starts January 1 of next year.

There are apparently still going to be a few Fight Pass exclusive events and they'll still have the non-UFC events.

They're supposedly going to do a deal when it starts that lets you get Fight Pass for $5/month if you subscribe to ESPN+, which is also $5, so they'll total the same amount as subscribing to Fight Pass monthly.

Not Internationally... Only in the US. They do not have any rights to UFC programming in any other countries, and ESPN+ is not available in other countries.

so people in other countries will not be able to watch any of the UFC programming on ESPN+, interesting... a lot less cards in mexico at least, and no more euro can cards.

We'll be able to watch those shows, they'll just either be on local TV stations, or Fight Pass.

No different than how things work now. FS1 doesn't exist outside the US, but that doesn't stop us from being able to watch those cards.

I thought most of what Helwani did was fake ,never cared much for him.

As to Thomas,he is a nobody to me,i don't feel he is very knowledgeable on MMA,sort of like Helwani when he first started.

Good news is working for ESPN means Helwani has a bit more speaking power so Dana can treat him like a whipping boy.
