FrankDuxx
listen to luke daily on siriusXM.. he runs out of content on his show and talks about random crap half the time, cant get decent guests either. Hopefully under the MMAHour banner he can get better guests, otherwise dont be excited.. definitely a fan, but dont get too excited
sobercuban
Wait, what? The UFC is going to ESPN and Helwani is going too? Did Dana and Ariel kiss and make up or something? I thought they had him shlt-canned from Fox. edit: ahh I guess he's doing something else.

I thought they had him shlt-canned from Fox. I was always under the impression that Lorenzo was the one who had issues with Helwani more so than Dana. Not sure why, but I feel like I heard he was the one behind FOX letting him go and him getting briefly banned. Also, maybe ESPN is just less willing to cave to that kind of BS than FOX was.
CanPass
Dana isn't in charge of ESPN. Nor is Ariel being produced as an official UFC programming. Edited June 20, 2018 by CanPass
sobercuban
Sounds like he's going to be doing something on ESPN Plus, I don't even know what that is. Is that a streaming platform?

Yeah, I keep forgetting that all of that went down (him getting his credentials pulled) right around the time the Fertittas were trying to sell the company. Fight Pass will be mainly just the library in the USA but ESPN is only a U.S deal so the rest of the world will still watch the cards on Fightpass from what been said. stehilton94
Luke Thomas is **** to listen to for more than 10 minutes, he also trys to speak about other sports when he has absolutely no idea what he is saying. I expect no more questions we want asked.

It's their new streaming service. It's where most of the UFC content is going to be in the US starting next year. Only 10 of the 30 ESPN events are going to be on TV. The rest are all on ESPN+.

I'll have to remember to cancel my membership before it automatically renews for 12 months in December.

ESPN is trying to build their streaming service internationally, they solely own the rights to those cards when they are live

I'll have to remember to cancel my membership before it automatically renews for 12 months in December. Starts January 1 of next year. There are apparently still going to be a few Fight Pass exclusive events and they'll still have the non-UFC events. They're supposedly going to do a deal when it starts that lets you get Fight Pass for $5/month if you subscribe to ESPN+, which is also $5, so they'll total the same amount as subscribing to Fight Pass monthly.

They do not have any rights to UFC programming in any other countries, and ESPN+ is not available in other countries.

We'll be able to watch those shows, they'll just either be on local TV stations, or Fight Pass. No different than how things work now. FS1 doesn't exist outside the US, but that doesn't stop us from being able to watch those cards.
jaybird86
I listen to him on my way home from work. I don't mind his show but do mind his support staff. One knows nothing and the other is forced to agree with every point he makes. Hopefully, he leaves them where they sit.
cashfl0w
I have listened to his show a couple times. Like other people have said, he seems to veer off into other topics a lot. I remember a lot of Wizards talk, which I couldn't care less about.
zaksame
I thought most of what Helwani did was fake ,never cared much for him. As to Thomas,he is a nobody to me,i don't feel he is very knowledgeable on MMA,sort of like Helwani when he first started. Good news is working for ESPN means Helwani has a bit more speaking power so Dana can treat him like a whipping boy.
