I'm still calling that win over Cyborg a fluke.

I don't believe in throwing a punch with bad intentions and scoring a KO as a fluke.

With that said Cyborg didn't treat her with proper respect.  It was a fire fight right away.  If they both fight the same way you might as well flip a coin on the winner.

However a Jason Parillo trained Cyborg that takes her time.  Waits for the proper opening she's just a much better boxer.

Nunes got rocked by a wrestler multiple times last night.  When you hype someone up that had a 20+ pound weight advantage over Valentina they will start to believe that they are the greatest.  Dana already tossed it out the window thinking Nunes couldn't lose.  Valentina would pick that ape apart round by round for an easy decision win if they fought a third time.

I never bought the hype.

I seriously contemplated throwing a grand on it.

Not because I thought she would win, but Nunes had to lose at some point, and a 10,000 grand would make that lose all the better.

But my cheap **** got distracted and didn't pull the trigger.

Apparently Amanda Nunes cost me all of my Alabama money.  I knew Saban was looking at it as a playoff spot.  I knew Bama going to 4 OT's with some bums would get good moneyline odds.  Sure enough more and more money came in on Georgia.  I got better and better odds to the tune of +220 the day of the game.  I put a little more at +1000 when they went down 10-0.

My mgm account is sitting buck naked after winning over $600.  I completely avoided that main event because Chuck is a different fighter after Paul Felder caved his skull in.  So it had to be me trying to penny push every parlay with Nunes.  I had Cruz and the fat kid from Australia in a bunch of them.

I probably need to cash out from now on and not chase on human cawk fighting.  I also probably need to not bet while intoxicated.  There's no way I didn't hit a single parlay unless she was in all of them.

I think I've said it about 17 times now but this is it.  No more betting on women's MMA.

It's a scam. She didn't even have the hooks in. Nunes tapped faster than Macguyver. I ain't buying that.

I think she mentally checked out once she got pieced up, her mind was on her wife and feeding "their" new baby. She gassed by the end of the first, then just refused to go out on her shield like a Champ.

Just re-watched the fight. They both looked so slow and laboured. I mean Nunes came close to being added to the list of people knocked out by a jab.

Now Pena is talking about dropping to 125 to avenge her loss to Shevchenko...given she got outclassed in her natural weightclass, i don't see her fairing any better in Bullet's world.

The person who got screwed the hardest by Nunes losing as a -1200 favorite was probably Kayla Harrison. Well, assuming Baldie was actually going to bust open the check book like the rumors were saying. Harrison was ringside with Ali, her pissant manager.

From a fan's perspective, it saved us from having to watch a bunch of bum **** WMMA 145ers get jammed into the weekly cards. Because they would have needed food for Kayla. Now, they don't.

I did wonder though if Nunes losing to Pena opens up a different angle...it's never really worked having someone champ at 2 weights. Does Nunes losing her BW belt necessarily cheapen a fight with Kayla at FW? Obviously her performance raises some serious question marks, but she's probably still marketable as an unbeaten fighter at WFW and they could sell Nunes v Harrison as a rather questionable "super-fight".

Not sure where you go after that though. Assuming Kayla wins, then they do a rematch and she wins that, then what next? Crush all the FW cans that Nunes already destroyed?

Basically WSW and WFlW are the only divisions with any real credibility right now.

I think she was told to throw the fight by the cartel but she defied them in round 1 so when she went back to the corner at the break someone showed her a photo of her family all beaten & tied up, then they told her they would kill them all if she didn't lose. So she went out, walked into 50 punches & then tapped at the first hint of a submission. True story.

Hard to imagine Shevchenko resorting to winging wild hooks with a panic-stricken look on her face.

Right now, she's the clear WMMA GOAT for me. I'd put JJ above Nunes as well tbh along with Cyborg.

I wouldn’t put JJ above her on the sole fact JJ is a sore loser and that she’s 2-4 in her last 6.

She's clearly past her best, but prime JJ had as many title defences at WSW as Nunes did at WBW, and i see WSW as a much tougher division.

I've also never seen JJ resort to flailing like a drunkard at a bar and getting jabbed in the face repeatedly by a wrestler.

No idea why Harrison wouldn't continue subbing 3 girls a year for a million dollar bonus. It's easy money and you don't have to put up with the UFC's BS.

In fact, I'd never really given it any hard-core wikipedia analysis, but Nunes' BW run was fairly questionable.

She took the belt from Tate who just seemed happy to be there and was just about to embark on her 0-2 run before retiring

Then she beat a punch-drunk, badly shook Ronda who's aura had well and truly evaporated on the end of Holly Holm's foot.

Next defence was against bullet; a highly dubious SD against someone significantly smaller than her

THe mighty Raquel Pennington (12-8) was next, a fighter who has finished precisely 2 of her 13 UFC fights

Boxer Holly Holm was her 4th defence, sporting a record of 2-4 in her previous 6 fights leading up to that one.

Her 5th and final defence was a decision win against Germaine de Random; this was arguably her most impressive BW defence.

I'm reluctant to give her props for winning and defending the FW belt in that time as the division is so thin they literally don't have any rankings.  So OP is right. Her only truly impressive win was against Cyborg, and it was a bit of a fluke.
