also, no one mentioned the finish. The overall fight was domination.

Nobody in this forum is saying otherwise man

It was domination

Then what ?

Im the only brazilian in this forum and I'm saying Islam dominated Oliveira easily

I wonder how you would react when someone loses wow

I know you are proud of  your boys ITR which is fun

But I'm also used to have my boys being legends and champs in many divisions while you guys are having an orgasm on Khabib and Islam at 155

Good for you

lol, you’re taking this way too seriously.

this goes out to all these ****s who regurgitated the same tired chit for the past two years or so about Islam.

doesn’t matter who he beat for the title, these clowns would discredit him.

only chance he has is a decision. He’s a pillow fisted point fighter.

HE HASNT BEAT ANYONE IN THE TOP FIVE TO EARN A SHOT

HIS STANDUP IS TRASH

HE WILL BE OUTGRAPPLED AND SUBMITTED

HE WILL HE KNOCKED OUT

HE LOST A FIGHT VIA TKO AND HAS  A GLASS CHIN

I love it when a BJJ guy gets subbed by someone from another discipline. The best part is reading all the BJJ forums and subreddits... "Islam was just doing BJJ!!!" They can't accept that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu isn't the only legitimate submission grappling art, and it never changes. They even said the same thing when Josh Barnett - clearly a catch wrestler - subbed Dean Lister and Metamoris.

Submissions don't "belong" to one art over another - most all of them (perhaps except the most esoteric stuff that only works in BJJ competitions and has no practical application) predate the formation of the Kodokan or catch-as-catch-can wrestling forms, much less BJJ. As Billy Robinson once said (I'm paraphrasing), nothing we do hasn't been done before in the past - it's just forgotten and rediscovered.

Didn't Islam drop that can?  I was hammered but at one point Chuck jumped guard.  lol what a turd.  He's been dropped about a dozen times in his last 4 fights.

You don't go from getting stomped by Miller, Cerrone, Swanson, Edgar, Holloway, Pettis, Lamas and Felder to beating Islam.  He even said his vision is now 20/20 after eye surgery.  So he defense just sucks after all.

He's got a bunch of rematches in order. And he's going to pull a Ferguson and fade hard.

Islam did to Oliveira what Cain did to JDS

Oliveira will never be the same again

And yes I can see his rematches not going well for him either.

I don't think he can win a decision.  His only chance is Islam has an injury that leads to a TKO or something.  Cut stoppage.  Look I like the little guy Volk has grown on me but he's going to get mauled.

Opening odds should see Islam favored at least -600.  Should be -1000

Volk shouldn't get the next shot IMO.  Champ v champ fights should be super rare.  I know he's kind of got a problem in his own division in that Holloway is comfortably the best of the rest and he's fought him multiple times, but Yair and Allen would be legitimate opponents.

In the meantime, Islam is now king of a fairly competitive division. I'd much rather see him defend against a few LW's before Volk gets to step up.  I would have no issue with the winner of pea head and Chandler getting the next shot. I think he beats both, but let's see it.

Allen isn't ready and has Kattar lined up.  Yair should step up but he doesn't seem interested in fighting.  If Cejudo beat Aljo maybe you shut him up by letting him move up.  I think Volk would slap that little ****er around.

Chandler had his shot.  Poirier has had two shots at undisputed.  At some point you gotta give Dariush a shot.

Yeah, i'm kind of assuming Allen gets through Kattar. The fact he's headlining made me think they're lining him up for the next shot.

Fine with Dariush getting a shot.  Basically, anyone from the LW division as opposed to a FW.  Volk's young enough to make a run at beating Aldo's record defences. Maybe when he's done that he should step up

Dariush is getting screwed because he isn't seen as exciting. 8 wins in a row with 4 finishes but still getting overlooked.

It's one thing to push back your shot when you are young but Dariush is 33. At some point everyone loses and one loss and he will never sniff a title shot.

Highest ranked guy who hasn't fought for the belt. They just need to show his spinning backfist KO on repeat to get some interest.

My same thoughts. They totally screwed Dariush.

I think Dariush will probably fight Oliveira next tho

He's asking for Charles but if Charles isn't ready to go he'll fight down the rankings again against Fiziev.  He said he doesn't think any of the top 5 besides Charles will fight him.

Wasn't Fiziev calling Oliveira out too ?

I don't know.  Fiziev is a good fight though.  In his last 5 fights he has 5 bonuses.  3 performance of the night all KO's and 2 FoTN.

Chuck might wanna sit this one out for a bit.  Regroup because the mileage is getting up there.  He kept proving me wrong but you can't get away with getting dropped in every fight forever.  These other idiots were afraid to do anything about it.  They just let him recover because they didn't want to grapple.  Force him to stand and then they would get caught doing something stupid.  I forgot what blunder Poirier pulled because he dropped Chuck twice and I don't know.  I would need to watch it again I just remember looking up and Poirier's back was taken.

I agree.

I didn't like the way he kept getting knocked down in literally almost every fight.

That is something huge to work at from now if he wants to get that belt back

Part of me wonders how long his chin will last. He's been blasted by some heavy hitters and put on **** street (thanks Brock) repeatedly. Will he eventually suffer from a case of Overeem-chin?

In Overeem and even Arlovski's defense they're heavyweights.  They've been more calculated as old men and rolling with shots better.  I know Badr Hari is not in his prime anymore but Overeem is nowhere near his prime either.

I would actually like to see the data but if I had to guess I would point straight to Charles being the most dropped fighter in the promotion.  He has some of the absolute worst fundamental flaws in his defense that I've ever seen from a fighter ranked so high.  He never rolls with shots.  He doesn't possess a shell defense and that left hand is always out of place.

He's been submitted a lot and people are afraid to follow him when they drop him.  Islam said I will finish this man on the ground and that's what he did.  Charles is an extremely high mileage 33 year old.
