Message for new members

OK, first of all I want to say that I'm glad to see that this site is growing and gaining new members. Its come a long way, and is getting bigger every day.

Having said this, I want to address the posts and threads that some of you have been making.

To all the people making flame posts and threads and attacking other members of this forum, you need to STOP!!!!!! When you join the forum you sign an agreement which contains the forum rules. One of these rules is NOT TO ATTACK OTHER MEMBERS! If you have a problem with a member or just don't like them, IGNORE THEM! Its that simple! Just because you don't like someone doesn't give you the right to flat out attack them.

Also, STOP AVOIDING THE SWEAR FILTER!!! Its in place for a reason. We have people of all ages reading the forum and visiting the site. It seems to me that people are taking advantage of the Mods by not following the rules. We don't want to be oppressive and Edit and Ban people like on other sites. We try to give you the freedom that other sites don't, but you are going to force our hand if this continues.

I hate having to say this, but its come to this. From here on out, things are going to change. If I see flame posts or threads started for no other reason than to call out and talk down to other members, the thread will be deleted and the thread starter will have to be dealt with. The same with the foul language. The Mod Edit is getting old and I'm not going to do it anymore. If you cusre or flame your post will just be deleted and you will receive a warning or be flat out banned for a week or how ever long I deem fitting.

We as Mods are very over worked with all the new members and are growing tired of dealing with these issues. We want everyone to be able to speak their minds and voice thier opinions without getting attacked and put down. Please help us with this by following the rules.

Thank you all for your time

you made 7000+ in 4 monthes before mod.

and maybe 500 in 1 month

since mod.

You wanted it' date=' live with it.

Do alot of forum design and modding myself, sorry but cleaning up alot comes with it.[/quote']

I know that, but what I was getting at is that we are not going to be as leniant anymore. My posts have nothing to do with the topic so I don't understand your logic. If anything it shows how busy we are, I can't post like I used to simply because so many people are breaking the rules and its not gonna stand anymore.

BTW, I never asked to be a Mod...they asked me

We as mods want to help ensure that fans of all ages can come, learn, trade info, knowledge and opinions here. We are working hard to make this THEE best place on the web for mma fans to gather and post. Help us in this endeavor by not forcing our hands. In closing, I too would like to welcome all the new members and tell them to enjoy all this site has to offer us as fans. I would also like to direct them to the community standards and ask them to read them carefully. Perhaps everyone should go back and re-read the standards (as we as mods have to memorize them front to back, haha)

Thanks to all & enjoy 102!!

Before anyone asks or says anything, I too was asked (told, rather, haha) to become a mod as well. & while my "comment" count here in the forums may be low, it does not mean I have not been here along time. Before becoming a mod, the majority of my time was spent on the community/blog side of the site, rather than the forum. Thanks again.

And a very good blogger you were superbeast. :)

I never had to worry about editing your page and you always made good points. Glad to have you on the team BTW. And glad to see it didnt take them 2 months to get you up and running like it did me LMAO (Ask Brew and G__row about it)

Good points, guys. If you don't like someone on the forum or don't respect their opinions, ignore their threads/posts or at least try to post things in response that don't have to be edited out. It's bad enough wading through endless repeat threads about controversial MMA fighters without having to wade through endless repeat threads about controversial forum members, too! And some of us are still young and impressionable on here, so watch the bloody language!

Lol, and you accepted voluntarily, without being coursed or threatened in any way? Are you some sort of masochist? Having to deal with the animals on these forums ( I include myself in that group btw) I would literally bleed to death from having to bite my tongue.

Believe it or not I tried to give the power to a few of the more senior members, but they seemed to like me...so I said yes. I like the site and at the time was on more than anyone anyway so I figured it wouldn't hurt to help out HAHA

Yes,there is more freedom here then most sites. We owe this to Dana. What some mods are doing is still wrong,Not the one who posted this thread directly, but in general. Its either free speech or not,as i stdudied the action here on my friends asccount beforte joining. This is the best site,by the best mma production in the world.I just hope that we are still able to say what we like .You guys here allow a little fighter bashing which is awesome.I try not to get carried away, but when someone says or does somthing i dont agree with its nice to voice my opinion.I can understand the swearing part as stated above due to young people viewing. This is an AWESOME site!!!!So JUJITWHO THANKS for maintaining the best mma site, run by good people, thanks, your work is greatly appreciated!!!

Modding is a thankless job as before mentioned but...

You knew the job was dangerous when you took it. Maybe along with the cracking down on everyone for flaming or using curse words you could also crack down on deleting threads where the original poster didn't use the search function and that topic has already been beaten to death in 20 other non-original threads. Also when you see a thread that has no valid content and the original poster is just trying to get a rise outta the forum crowd delete that thread as well. I mean it works both ways right and you have already acknowledged in your original post in this thread that there are guys who do that. Make a lame thread get lame thread deleted, don't use search function and post a topic in a new thread that has already been talked about 100X's b4 then get your thread locked. I know there are guys here who are tired of these things that have been here for a long time, and in my opinion if you want to be a good moderator then you also have to look at that side too.

I used to be a moderator myself for another site, thankless job...keep up the good work.

I never delete threads that are not just flame caves. I will merge threads of the same topic to save space, but that is all. I don't delete them :)

Thanks you for your words though

Oh yeah here is one for the books! Guys like this are always trying to get a rise with their nonsense,

I'm just sayin...guys like this are gonna get flamed because they bring it on themselves, you have 1 guy like this and thousands of members=thousands of members posting flame comments towards this individual, better to school this individual then to go through and be worried about everyone else right?

To be honest, I have always given ArcaneKnight a hard time, but if you read his other posts he does actually tend to post intentionally ridiculous, non offensive posts, or makes very good points in an articulate manner. There seems to be no middle ground with him. He never seems to single out any other forum user for abuse, and has taken any abuse directed at him with good humour, If he posts something like the post you quoted I just tend to ignore it now.

This guy is a forum member that is just using a new screename. He says things like this to get a rise out of you, just ignore him.

BTW its easy to SAY you got all the fights right....but I beat you a million dollars he didn't actually post his score in the Fantasy Thread like everyone else. That should tell you something.

it's easier to look the other way sometimes right? You could do something about it now and avoid future mishaps but you choose to look the other way and let him try and get a rise out of the forum crowd and lead to more problems instead of nipping it in the bud now. Best way to tackle a problem is to hit it head on. Sometimes addition by subtraction is best. Like I said its a thankless job but if you choose to look at it one sided it becomes even more thankless.

The irony here is he is in no way breaching the community standards. Just because a guy posts something that may be a bit on the stupid side doesn't mean we can or should take action against that member. When things like that get posted, 9 out of 10 times, it is the responses that would more merit action taken. That's kind of like saying police should remove stop lights, that way people won't run them. It's fine in theory, but totally looking at it from the wrong end of the spectrum. Skip over it, ignore it and it will eventually go away.

Well its not that I wouldn't like to, but I can't just ban people without cause. There are rules I have to follow when it comes to that. They have to do something that warrents a ban. Trust me, if I could ban who I liked there would be a lot fewer members here, but thats just the way it is.

OK I admit I was fishing myself with those comments but I just wanted to see where your heart is and what you really think about some of the BS that finds it's way in here. I just wanted to say thanks for all your help last night with the site superbeast. It was fairly mellow last night but its usually a lot worse.

Yeah, I was expecting it to be a lot worse, (from all the horror stories Brewster has told me!) But I think the most people I saw in the forums at once was probably less than 500, so it was pretty chill. I have a feeling that after 104, it's going to get nutty around here, though, hahaha!

What if we curse but not towards no particular person. Like BJ penn will (Mod Edit) up Diego.

also how des one become a mod do we have to post 8000 or so replies

Avoiding the swear filter in a thread I made about NOT avoiding the swear filter is not a good way to get Mod status LOL

In the future please don't do this OK?
