I meant Light heavy weight- sorry about the typo

I know some will think this is crazy, but if youve seen vera when his game is on and he actually training right he is a fantastic fighter. I was wondering what a fight between him and the spider would be like , that is if vera was on his game, vera has a good ground game, excellent muay thia and he is a great striker, when he is doing good he is a very good well rounded fighter. I am not a huge fan of vera but I think this would make for an exciting fight, that is if vera were on his game and training right. his track record was dictated by a swelled head and a lack of training and comittment.

so what are your thoughts about this, just wondering if others out there may think that this may make for a good fight ?????

Yes, I think you are crazy for suggesting a fight between Brandon Vera and Anderson Silva at LW. LW is 155 pounds. If they dropped that much weight it would be like watching two skeletons fight in the octagon, if they could even function. Starving Anderson like that might be one way of making it an even contest, though.

If they fought at LHW, Anderson would get a first round KO.

Haha, I know, I just thought it was funny, the image of those two 50 pounds underweight. :)

I do think Anderson is better at every aspect of MMA than Vera, though, and I really would expect him to get a fast KO/TKO if they ever met at 205.

This could be a really intriguing fight, but there are several LHW fighters you can say the same thing about if they were facing Silva. Watching Siva fight is becoming much the same as watching Randy Couture to me. You know the striking is his bread and butter, like Greco Roman is Randy's, but they have such a diverse skill set that you are never quite sure which way the fight will go. You can really say the same for Vera. If these two were to meet Vera would have a definitive size advantage, but so did Irvin and Forrest so it is in truth no advantage. As I see Vera is good in all aspects of the game but Silva is just a lil bit better. Give Vera some time to develop a bit more, and we will see how that development is progressing tonight, and this could really be an awesome fight.

The only issue I see with it right now is Vera is not at this point ready for Silva and I am afraid by hte time he is Silva will be ready for retirement.

It did make me laugh, a lot. Maybe you should try sarcasm more often. ;)

.... Helloooooooo, take a look at "The Truths" record . In his last 5 fights he lost to Sylvia, Werdum & the Dean ... the 2 wins were vs. Reese Andy & Mike Pratt ... the win over Mir was a freak-joke, before that I doubt if you'd recognize any names on his record . My wife is Filipina & I picked Vera in an on-line parlay but I'm not gonna be shocked if he loses to the P/E . Dana would be up on homicide-charges if he put "The Truth" in with the Spider ..... R.I.P.

The point was Vera stopped training, living the high life and not taking his career seriously. Before his downfall he was a very impressive fighter with a lot of talent. His talent is still there we just dont know about his dedication yet.

LOL your totally right I knew one poster would write that comment with no clue, gotta love the "FANS" who make a judgement call on a fighter they apparently dont know anything about

MAN this would be an interesting fight. Vera doesn't have the same power as Silva, but how long has it been since Anderson has fought a striker that is actually more technical and faster than he is? I think arguably Vera is better on the ground as well, albeit by a small margin.

This would be a sick fight for sure.

I'd love to see Vera take on Machida some day as well, for much the same reasons. Although I really think Machida's style will be more interesting to see against Vera's style. With the way Machida holds his chin he might really have problems with Vera's attacks, even though vs a solid guy the punches can't really do dangerous damage.

Wow i am surprised at the number of people actually taking this propositions seriously. When i read the first post i thought

"Great, this thread is gonna be attacked by Anderson ****s."

I'm usually never one to count anyone out, look at any of my other posts for yourselves.

Vera has the potential to do this. Give the guy a few years to increase his training and to rededicate himself.

It could happen.

i think veras main problem is he is too focused on trying to win both LHW and HW belts, seriously he shuld just focus on the LHW belt, but more importantly one fight at a time,he shuldnt get ahead of himself...let his fighting abilities do the talking not his mouth...he needs a few more fights, and tough fights at that to better prepare for silva...

rubbish i'm afraid....Silva would destroy Vera.....i lik vera but why put him against Anderson....Please lets not forget Anderson has already taken out Forrest Griffen (a former champ.....Vera is unproven as yet at LHW....Personally i'd like to see Vera go up gainst Forrest Griffen and Anderson go up against Rampage/Rashad before eventually Machida...which i know has already been raised......

Peace!
