Uncommoncents
Has anyone ever seen a UFC Fighter Contract? Or know of someone who has, personally know, not just know that the fighter has seen one. What makes me ask this is all the fans wanting Silva and Machida to fight. Is there some clause that says fighters can refuse a fight. Or can Dana White say to them "I'm the Boss, you work for me, now get in there and fight!" Dana White has never come across as the sensitive type. Hes a business man, a good one at that, and I just have a hard time imaging him saying something like "Oh... you don't feel like fighting so-and-so, well...thats ok, we'll work something else out, no big deal, just millions of dollars I won't make." What do you guys think?
daveyk
i've never seen a contract. the problem is fighters as big as anderson silva and machida have alot of power in terms of being more selective who they fight. should they threaten to quit if they were forced to fight someone they didnt want to or actually did quit the disappointment and backlash from fans could be massive. and they know this. it makes sense for dana to keep them reasonably happy with fight selections to get the best out of them. thats my opinion anyway. although anderson v machida would be awesome especially as anderson stated that when he trains with machida, machida usually wins!
