I just heard that dana has moved penn, sanchez to another ufc event november, I thought it was too good to be true, that fight made the card to be honest and now 105 looks boring with no big names at all, Bisping v kang cant be the main event surely?????? I love Bisping cos hes English :P but him and Kang aint a touch on a title fight between penn and sanchez,, any news or ideas of what the main event might be???? or wat you would want it to be

30/08/09 - Marquardt victorious, may meet Hendo at UFC 105

A middleweight contender eliminator between Dan Henderson and Nate Marquardt is in the running to headline UFC 105, Fighters Only has been told.

Marquardt staked his claim to a title shot last night with a 21 second KO of Demian Maia in a fight that was to determine which of them would earn a title contention spot.

A source told Fighters Only last night that a meeting between Marquardt and Henderson at UFC 105 ?is one of the options being considered? for the headline bout of the event.

Henderson had already been linked with a UFC 105 appearance when it was rumoured last week that a middleweight title challenge against Anderson Silva might headline the November card, which takes place in the UK.

Speaking to Joe Rogan in the Octagon immediately after the KO win, Marquardt said, ?I want that belt and I don?t know who?s gonna get the next shot, but if you want someone who?s gonna kick Anderson Silva?s butt, you?re gonna give that shot to me.?

But at the post-UFC 102 press conference, Marquardt said he was open to fighting Henderson to determine a number one contender.

?I don?t really care who I fight next. I want to fight the best opponents and I fell like I will get my shot when it is my time,? he said. ?[silva] doesn?t have to be next. I would be glad if it was, but whatever?s next I am excited for.?

A lightweight title fight between BJ Penn and Diego Sanchez was also rumoured to be headlining UFC 105, but that fight may be taking place on an as-yet-unannounced third November event, which the UFC is trying to get a network TV deal for.

That show would counter Strikeforce?s November event, in which Fedor Emelianenko will make his debut for the organisation.

However, if the UFC cannot reach a network TV deal for the one-off show then it is still possible that Penn v Sanchez may headline UFC 105.

Penn, like many fighters whose wages includes a cut of PPV revenue, is known to be reluctant to fight in the UK again as the PPV revenues for British shows are lower than US shows.

But Spike TV - which will be airing UFC 105 - has made money available to make up the difference of lower PPV revenue, which makes the fight economically viable for the likes of Penn.

I could see a Hendo/Nate fight.

I could also see Dana not doing this fight becasue right now in the MW division (IMO) the only 2 guys who have a chance at Silva are Nate and Hendo...Obviously if these guys fight the loser will have to work his way back up the chain. I could see Dana avoiding this fight to keep 2 guys in the running for Silva at MW rather than just 1...BUT, im no expert and Im sure Dana has gone through all the scenarios and he's definitaely got a plan. I honestly dont care which way it goes...I would like to see Hendo and Nate go at it.

Similar to Nate v Franklin. Though Nate wasn't as well touted as he is now, they were both undoubtably at the top of the division.

They should totally avoid this fight. Hendo shouldnt have to fight Marquardt first. He already earned his title shot. It should be Hendo/Silva at 105 in my opinion

I love hendo now that he knocked out Bisping. But no way he deserves a title shot before Marquart. Let the two battle. Hendo I don't feel even beat Ace. And Bisping isn't any competition. How does beating bisping warrant a title fight. If hendo could beat Marquart then I would say he definitely should get a title shot. Plus it makes Marquart even more hungry.

I would like to see W. Silva v someone @ 185' date=' but Wand is hurt so that wont happen. Hendo v A. Silva should be, but wont be, cuz Silva wants Hendo v Marquardt first. Sounds scared to me... I didnt mean that.[/quote']

Its up to Joe Silva and Dana White on who fights not Anderson Silva, he hasnt defended that MW title in a while
