Brett Rogers on Fedor Emelianenko: "He hasn?t felt the power that he?s about to get."

I dont know why you all are hating on him for being confident in his abilities. He has to go in believing he's better than Fedor in all aspects. Im sure he has respect for Fedor's skill set, but he is going to have to go in confident if he wants to beat Fedor. I cant knock the guy, listening to him, he seems like the hungriest fighter in MMA right now. He is the one with everything to prove, and the most to gain. He understands how big of a fight this is for him.. This is his chance to be set for life with a win over Fedor.

He starts doubting himself, and telling people he knows Fedor is better on the ground, and questioning his own capabilities, he'll be setting himself up to lose. I dont think he'll beat Fedor, but there is always that chance he lands the right punch, capatalizes and gets the TKO win over Fedor. Its slim, but there's still that chance. Its why they fight in the first place.

Rogers is a big dude, and powerful, its not going to be easy to get him to the ground, but Fedor is as skilled as it gets. If Rogers connects to Fedor's chin Rogers will win this fight. But Fedor being the master game planner he is, Rogers has just that, a puncher's chance.

I don't think Rogers is going to win this one, but you're absolutely right. When was the last time anyone heard a fighter say, "I'm going to step in the ring and get owned. I'm just not in the same league as this guy". Everyone has to be confident in themselves, or why fight in the first place?

My problem is the wording.

There's one thing to realistically be confident in your chances but that kind of vague, 'Oh, we have the same skills.' Tells me that he's really not confident at all. If he had said something like, 'Well, I'm pretty sure that if it stays on the feet, he's going to sleep. No way he can take my power. On the ground, I can hold my own until I stand it back up because I want to knock him out.'

That second one is specific and tells me where his confidence lies. Instead of that generic bullcrap a lot of fighters spout before they get owned pretty bad.

Roger's has already got the fear in him and Fedor's gonna eat him up.

Roger has a punchers chance

only a dumb fighter would say they dont have a shot. Roger has a bigger shot then any other strikeforce fighter.. in strikeforce eyes its a win win for them if Roger wins then strikeforce can say they have lagit fighter not only lagit one of the best in mma. If fedor wins just makes more money for m-1 and strikeforce..

If Roger dont beat fedor he will be a legend

I think you means' date=' if he beats Fedor.

I don't like the idea that you're a legend if you beat a legend. I think you're on your way if it's a reproducable result. Anyone can "get lucky", but only the truly talented can do it again and again.

That's why GSP, barring something crazy, is probably going to be a legend. Anderson Silva already is. Lyoto Machida, again barring something crazy, is on his way. BJ Penn isn't there yet, despite what he and all his testicle-tacklers say, because he's only [i']now[/i] been able to produce consistent results by staying as a lightweight.

So, yeah, if Rogers beats Fedor, he'll definitely be catapulting into the Elite stratosphere, but I would wait for another fight or two before I'd start throwing the L-word around.

Okay. I still don't get why it's called "Zulu'd".

Because that black guys name is Zulu.. And Fedor tooled him. So when people say they hope someone gets Zulu'd, they hope they get beat up as bad as Zulu. A couple knock downs, followed by tapping due to strikes. Not really.. But it just means they hope they see a COMPLETE DISMANTLING of someone..

You either get it or you dont. When Gonzaga knocked out Cro Cop.. For awhile every time someone got knocked out by a high kick, they said they got Gonzaga'd. You either get it or you dont. It goes both ways sometimes.

I get it but it still sounds kind of retarded.

I think it's just funny. Not too long ago mohawk's were "in". But is that really when you're supposed to be rockin one? When everyone else is? I find it lame to do something everyone else is just because thats the style that's popular at the time.

I give him more props for rocking one when its out of style and no one is doing it anymore, than doing it when everyone else is.. And to not do something or not wearing something because you're afraid of how people will percieve you is pretty lame too. Why follow trends? Why not set them and be independent and have your own style?

MTV has you all on lockdown.

I am no follower of trends. Never have been, never will be. I am, however, of the shallow nature to laugh at someone when I think they look ridiculous. Some people can pull of the hawk. Rogers can't, imo, there for, I laugh at him.

I agree, like right about now is prime time to bust out the bandpatch shredded denim jacket with the sleeves cutoff. Knee high socks need a comeback, badly.
