Has a fighter ever tapped from an omoplata?

Joe Rogan always freaks out when a fighter secures an omoplata. Has anyone actually seen a guy tap from that move. I hear it' date=' and see it all the time, but it never seems to accomplish much. Is it just me?[/quote']

no because it requires positions that don't naturally happen too much. Many just stick with triangle choke. thanks for supporting my couture thread man

As far as I've been told, the omoplata is not really a submission attempt, but more of a transition attempt to either a gogoplata (which although infrequent, we've seen quite a few times - Diaz, Aoki, Imes) or a sweep. As far as I can recall, I've never seen anyone tap from an omoplata. Could be wrong though.

Joe Rogan gets excited about alot of things. He likes omos and kimuras because they make great sweeps.

The one dustin hazelett uses on tamdan is a modified armbar' date=' like a backwards one. He was essentially trying to break his arm near the elbow

an omoplata is a should type lock that separates the arm from the shoulder[/quote']

Actually I would call it a modified Omo into an armbar. Check out the GIFs I posted last page.

heres a sub that ive never seen a ufc fighter try but i can tell you can make any grown man cry. isolate and arm.grab his forearm with your left and the back of his hand with your right and press his hand towards his forearm which puts strain on the wrist joint.like the arm bar it could quickly leave his hand tangling by nothing but skin, and it works best from side control.

Common Japanese jujutsu lock, often done in standing. Difficult to secure, need to control the shoulder with the lock to make it work. Of course all limb locks should control back to the body.

Also known as Bouncers Hold, good to escort people. I have tried and never pulled it off in BJJ.

The peruvian necktie is a choke, not an arm lock.

Kinda looks like a sideways d'arce choke with a leg wrapped around.
