Fighters that should have went to the ground..

There are a lot of incredible ground fighters out there that have BJJ that is on a different level... but their stand-up isn't really top notch. So instead of taking the fight to the ground where they would have an advantage they stand up with people they shouldn't have. Heres a couple of examples, feel free to add more.

Nate Mardquart vs Damian Maia

Paul Daley vs Dustin Hazelett

Doesn't really mean he wanted to stand. Maybe he just wanted to make Nate think he would stand. IMO, it's to much of a short fight to tell if he wanted to stand or roll. But he did deserve getting knocked out for such a sloppy, telegraphed kick. That thing took like 10 seconds out of the 20.

BJ Penn has one of the best ground games in his division, but he likes to bang it out with his boxing rather than go for a takedown. Same with Lyoto and Anderson Silva. Both of them have black belts in BJJ but they like to stand it up and put on a show for the fans. That's why there the best in there division, they are in no harm in any position and so well rounded.

Any fight George Gurgel has ever been in in the history of ever. He has these defective little arms that cant throw decent punches and hes not just a blackbelt at jitsu, he hands out blackbelts and he wants to bang... I went and looked at his record and in his smaller show fights he did what he does best but he got to higher tiers and decided he would just try and throw hands, its just so weird.
