What does it take to be a Ref?

I'm just wondering if anyone knows how these referees in Strikeforce come to be? I believe there wasn't enough to stop most of those fights tonight and even if they were really beaten, allow the fighter to prove that he without a doubt won or lost the match... Early stops are always questioned, so allow it to be a more desicive victory. Maybe its just me but I would let most of those fights go further more except for the Robbie Lawler (great KO). What do you think about the stops at Strikeforce Miami?
