Why is there such a big hoo ha about this guy fighting Mir? This guy is seen as the "dark horse" who will dethrone Brock eventually. How? Who has this guy fought? Gonzoga? Who cares, anyone else worth mentioning? Nope didnt think so. So why is the bandwagon on about this guy becoming a huge animal at HW?

11-0 yeah that seems really good...right? But next to Gonzoga the most welll known name he has fought has been...Christian Wellisch. I think they should have has him fight Cain or JDS or another up and commer in the HW div rather then "Oh ok you have heavy hands and your a decent wrestler go fight the 3rd best HW in the world"

That's what UFC is about isn't it? it's good to know not to listen to them hyping up most of their undeserving contenders.

welcome to reality

the top contenders fight up and comers or has-beens while the newer guys fight other newer guys and they get 1 notable win, (Gonzaga) and OMG TITLE SHOT THIS GUYS GOT IT OMG!!!

personally i think its to give Lesnar atleast 1 easy title defense, that Mir fight was crap and isnt really a defense since Mir had the interim.

but this is just like wat they did to Lesnar, he beat Herring....Heath ****ing Herring... after LOSING, and he got a friggin title shot. still pisses me off

anyway thats just how it goes

Well, don't be mad at him, he's extremely humble and has a champion like attitude. Plus he did work his way to the UFC, doesn't matter if it's no bodies or not and on another note name one HW fighter that has beat his first 11 opponents in the first round under the first half, regardless if it's no body's that is still impressive.

No I do still think it's unfair he's get's a title shot so soon but hey $hit happens. (yes my opinion will be biased because he is becoming one of my favorites)

Duh, all fighters start somewhere and Shane has Ko'ed everyone put in front of him. He also has superb wrestling credentials and the size and strength comparable to Brock. Mir is going nighty-nite and so is Brock.

In beating Gonzago in about a minute he proved that hes a top contender. I'm glad hes getting a tite shot. Even though he hasnt fought much top fightes he has shown that he has the assets and the credentials to be champion. He is very big, a great wrestler and has got great stand-up. He is as big of a threat to Brock as anyone else.

not much to say about shane...besides his obvious heavy hands, and good wrestling pedigree..he has literally fought 3 cans...his only prominent opponent was gonzaga and gonzaga hurt him bad instead of taking his time to finish carwin he rushed in and got caught with a hail mary shot that put him to sleep...reminisce of the jardine vs houston fight...i see alot of similarities between shane and houstons earlier fights...where houston got lucky in knocking out jardine and then beating sakara and having rogan saying he was for real etc...we all know about houston now...i see the same pattern forming here...its hard to gauge his cardio or ground game?since ive never seen it...lol...to say his fight with Mir will be easy or a good test for his eventual fight with Brock is a understatement of biblical proportions...i guess we can argue that he has a punchers chance like the hardy vs GSP fight thats coming up...so goodluck shane and hardy...your both going to need it

I bealive that Junior Dos Santos is the guy with most credible wins in the UFC and should be the next contender but hey they will rather make Carwin vs Lesnar or Mir vs Lesnar 3.

Its funny JSD has as much credible wins as Lesnar has fights in the UFC and with one of them being a lose yet he is a champion.

Saying he got a lucky shot on Gonzaga would be me saying that Brock got a lucky shot on Couture. Your argument fails.

You guys are not thinking, that's what the HW is all about, 1 punch KO or sudden death. No matter how dominant a fighter on his opponent, he just can't blink coz 1 soilid punch from his wobbly opponent can turn the fight around and KO him.

im a lil angry about the whole interim part. i do think carwin deserves brock, and if he didnt set the fight date with him he would have already faught 2x since then and done well. who knows though.

but im not sure if i like carwins odds against mir. i think mir will prolly win this fight. but at least i would like to see carwins stamina in this fight.

i really like carwins odds against lesnar though. both have size str and wraslin, so it will be a clinch/stand up fight like lesnar vs couture i would presume. this being said, i think carwin has the better stand up, but brocks clinch dosnt seem to shabby. he hit couture with a decent elbow or 2 in the clinch
