Shane Carwin vs Junior Dos Santos

I think that this would be a great fight. These are probably the two best strikers in division. It would be interesting to see who gets the better of the stand-up battle. This is a very hard fight to call. Both fighters have been very impressive recently. Both fighters have good takedown defence and they both have huge power. Either way I don't think that this fight would last long.

Hands are both amazing power wise' date=' I think the difference is if it goes to the ground Shane would be a bit big and strong for JDS.[/quote']

Ya, but JDS apparently has got great BJJ but its just that we never see it because he prefers to stand.

JDS I would say has the better hands. They both have KO power but overall JDS has better boxing. Carwin is a big strong guy with legit wrestling, so he could probably take it to the ground if needed. JDS does trian with the Nog's so I think he would be more than ok if it went to the ground.

I think I have to give this one to JDS, but I'm not counting out Carwin. Don't know enough about him yet.

-buy the ticket. take the ride.

I agree, from what I've seen from JDS his boxing is more technical than Carwin's, I wouldn't count Carwin out either, though.

Ya, Dos Santos is technically better and the better boxer but I think that Carwin has more power in his hands and even if hes losing he could KO Dos Santos at any time like he did to Gonzago. If Carwin lands clean then I think it will be all over. I think that Dos Santos will have to do a little more and keep chopping Carwin down to knock him out.

I think this is a 50/50 split or atleast it is for me. One hit power edge would definitely go to Carwin (I think) and technical edge to JDS. Carwin's chin is a little on the suspect side from the very limited fights i've seen him in actually really just from the Gonzaga dealt stumble. If Carwin could take some shots I may lean toward him but if he can't JDS for sure as he will connect more in the exchange. Can't comment on either's ground game from the lack of i've seen so far.

I don't think they are both great strikers.

I think Dos Santos is. But Carwin is a bit slow really and very basic technically...but what he does have is possibly the most KO power in the sport.

So it would be a contest of speed and skill versus power and fundamentals.

I'd personally be pulling for Dos Santos.

Cheers

It depends on who wins Mir/Carwin... Mir would definitely win the fight with his hands if he was going to win, and I think that JDS has easily the most dangerous hands in the HW division, and quite possibly some of the most dangerous hands in the UFC.

I gotta go with JDS.

I'd be going for cigano in this fight!

They both have the power to finish each other, but I see junior having more speed and better technique!

Carwin seems to not mind standing with any opponent as does dos santos so I don't see this fight going to the ground unless one of them is rocked and its their last resort

JDS, Carwins striking Is very overated, hes got a ridiculous amount of KO power, but technically he Isnt a great striker,Gonzaga comfortably outsriked him. and everyone bangs on about his wrestling aswell, Gonzaga had no trouble whatsoever taking him down and thats all we have to base his wrestling ability on so far. Though hes a fighter you can never count out, the KO power he has Is ridiculous,1 punch on the jaw and Its over.

I think JDS would take Carwin out provided Carwin didn't land a lucky KO punch on him (it could go either way). Carwin's wrestling might neutralize JDS's BJJ but as mentioned above we haven't really seen a lot of so far as he likes to stand.

The question is who does he fight next? Does he fight the loser of Carwin v Mir or Nogueira v Velasquez? For his title shot?

Personally I think Mir will finish Carwin, and Velasquez will edge out a decision over Nogueira. Velasquez will then go on to be defeated by Mir which pretty much leaves Nogueira for JDS to defeat in the meantime before getting his title shot at Mir IMHO (if it all goes down that way). Might see JDS taking on Mir for a title shot at Carwin's belt.

JDS would whoop his ****' date=' only way it would go to decision is if Carwin lays on him, I still see JDS taking that decision. I mean...Carwin always has a punchers chance that has been proven...but id bet on JDS by stoppage.[/quote']

^^This we have seen gonzaga rock carwin, and I think jds would hit him even harder imo

JDS by tko 1st or 2nd
