Shogun vs Forrest "The runner" A rematch???

I mean everybody knows we cannot use the injuries as an excuse once you accept stepping in the cage.

Now that Shogun appears 100% how do you guys think a rematch would end up?

Forrest is one weak guy, IMO. Cannot hurt a guy with one puch, but has to deliver many to cause a little damage.

I would bet in a 2nd round TKO. :-) Hopefully Dana "careca" White will have this idea!

I think Shogun would destroy Griffin this time if they fought. As we saw in the Machida fight, Shogun is in his true champion form and is a threat to the whole LHW division now. Based on skill sets alone, I think Shogun carries the superior set of MMA skils between the 2 and would win if they had a rematch.

Forrest didn't seem to be running when he choked Shogun out. Just sayin.

And' date=' Shogun is fighting Machida. If he loses, then sure, a rematch with Forrest would be fine with me.[/quote']

You're probably kidding me!! LOL

Before getting a chance against Shogun, he'll have to beat Lil Nog ( who Shogun defeated)... Thiago Silva... and others...

What about that thing against Anderson Silva??? Man, what the hell was that.. I never saw a fighter doing such a thing... he wasn?t completely out and quit.

Shogun was injuried. You have no idea who this guy already defeated... go checking his resume, than you speak.

only way i can see this fight happening is if Forrest works his way up the rankings and fights Shogun for the belt (after shogun whoops up Machida again)

He said he is not confortable of fighting against Lil Nog... man, will probably be K.O. LiL Nog is on his way.... we'll see him up in the rankings.

You have GOT to be kidding me!

You're either have very limited knowledge of these forums, or you're clearly trolling.

Questioning G's knowledge is laughable.

BTW, Forrest does NOT have to go through Thiago Silva for a title shot. If he beats Rogerio, he will probably fight Shogun again.. regardless of the outcome of the Machida/Shogun fight.

Yeah... my knowledge is one related to fighters conditions and nobody talked about title shot or forums .... I was referring to one rematch ( wether shogun is defeding title or at contention).

He does not need go through Thiago Silva?? Who fought the "contender" Rashad?? And the "contender" could not do much... take downs unfortunetly count on wins.

Don?t you be stupid... Forrest has good physical condition, but cannot finish fights satisfactory.

I'll say it again..

He does not NEED to go through Thiago Silva.

Griffin is a former LHW champion. Silva is not.

Both have lost to equal talent (Forrest to Rashad and Anderson, Thiago to Lyoto and Rashad), with the difference being, Forrest was beating Rashad until he got caught.

Forrest is, and always has been, ranked higher than Thiago.

Maybe Thiago should fight Tito next.

I'm pretty satisfied by rear naked chokes actually.

This.

Given the fact that Forrest already has a victory over Shogun, that instantly puts him in line for the first title shot (assuming both of them win, and Anderson doesn't get it first).

Yeah.... He should join Mark Coleman?s Club... can only beat or choke one injuried Shogun.

What exactly did I say that upset you so?

I said if Shogun loses the rematch with Machida.

Then he would be coming off a loss. What, if he loses again, no matter how close it is, should he get another shot? Or a chance to avenge a loss in the UFC?

Do not forget that Forrest did beat Shogun. Like it or not.

Oh, and Anderson would pwn Shogun.

Shogun was at a very bad point in his career at the time he faced Forrest. It was his octagon debut, his busted up knee, and I think he overlooked Forrest; even with a bum knee I think Shogun could beat Forrest. At that time though Forrest wasn't considered a threat, yeah he won TUF 1 but he had no high-profile wins over top contenders, and the UFC basically fed him to slaughter. Shogun probably figured "Hey, I've beet Noguiera, Rampage, Overeem, this guy is nothing." I think it was a huge combo of things that led to the result. All in all in a rematch I think it would end in bad fashion for Forrest.

Maurovisk,

I was just having a little bit of fun with you. but please do not call people idiots. We do not allow insults on here. I know we can't catch them all, but hard to miss em when you call a mod one. lol

'But in all seriousness, of course I know who Shogun is. I have seen every event Pride put on, as well as every UFC event.

In my original comment I said IF Shogun loses to Machida in the re-match, then I would not mind seeing that fight. He would then be coming off a loss, and Forrest did beat him. Not too far fetched if you ask me. Which you didn't, but the op did.

Shogun was injured during that fight and only took it because Zuffa promised to pay for his knee surgery after the fight.

I heard from a friend of mine that works for Koral that Shogun knocked out Anderson Silva during a sparring session when they were both in Chute Boxe.

Anderson Silva left because after he got knocked out he got mad and started arguing with Shogun so top Chute Boxe trainer Rudimar Fedrigo and Pele broke them up, but Silva felt like they were taking Shogun's side so he decided to leave.

Plus he was jealous of Wandy's success in Pride, understandable though the guy got triangled then scissor sweeped into a inverted heel hook, he was tired of being in Wanderlai's shadow.

I still see Forrest winning a decision. Forrest is bigger and stronger and has better conditioning. Forrest is not as great of a fighter as Shogun but his style and size will beat the smaller man. I said this before, even if Shogun wins against Machida, he'll probably lose to a lesser fighter.

Well then, I would say Shogun was 100% wrong for going 100% in sparring while Anderson was holding back. Anderson is 100X the fighter Shogun is.

IMO certain fights absolutely scream for the inevitable rematch.

Shogun/Forrest

Shogun/Lil Nog

Now depending on what Forrest shows up to fight Lil Nog and how that fight goes will set up a hole net of fight possibilities and all could have possible title implications. Seems like an exciting time for me!

I am not gonna discount what has been a decent career from a really cool guy because he was owned by the best fighter alive today and was emotionally crushed to the point that he didn't want to break down and cry in public.

Forrest is in no way the bum some want to make him out to be. He has a decent skillset, not hugely varied but good enough, and he has the heart and desire to carry him to some high places once again. But the fall will still be just as crushing when it does come again.

Forrest griffin on his best day poses a serious threat to any LHW in the UFC. But getting him on his best day is seeming to be the hard part. To me, in his upcoming Minotoro fight, I go about 60/40 Nog, and in the inevitable Shogun rematch, I go 70/30 Shogun. Does he have great chances to defeat them? not really, But he definitely does have a chance, and a better chance than so many have decided on this forum.
