KungFuMaster
why do so many people love rap music and rappers like little wayne it takes no talent to rap seriously Please do not ever say that again? I am a music major and I will tell you first hand, rap is an musical art and you have to have musical talent to be successful. First you have to have exceptional rhythm and second you have to have exceptional vocalization to spit all those words out in such a short amount of time. As the great Kevbo puts it....."Just Saying."

Kable
The thing is you clearly haven't given any other music besides the "Rock" genre a listen...if you claim that one Genre isn't music. Gabber is a type of music...but i wouldn't say i enjoy it...still music though.

joshdfs
Rap is like most art, if you don't get it, you probably never will. Rythmic poetry, which is what rap is at its essence, is second only to cave paintings in the world's oldest art forms. And when it is done well it is a great thing. KungFuMaster
Rap originated from Scat, which is an improvisational form of musical elements involving spontaneous melodies using non-traditional words such as be-bob. Also, while slaves were on the fields picking cotton, songs were spontaneously made up and sung on the spot to past the time. Rap has its roots in Scat, Jazz, and Rhythm and Blues. Rhythm and Blues evolved to become Rock and Roll and was originated by African American musicians. Most popular mainstream music in America originated from African Americans. So dont be so judgemental if you think Rock and Roll is a white thing when it is not. Just Saying.
MMAxALLxDAY
This post fails. Listen to rap of the 90s and some from the late 80s. Its not all about b**ches, h0es, drugs, and money. They talk about having a good time partying women and just chillin'. Some rap from now is like that. To produce music like that takes time, patience, and, skill. Also to rap as fast as some of them do, is actually pretty hard even if it is written down in front of you.

KRYME
IMO rap over the last 3-4 years has gotten very boring to me. It seems like everything has been said and done and everyone is just repeating each other. There are a few exceptions to this. There is some originality out there. It's gotten better lately, sort of, but it just started to get boring a few years ago so I don't listen to much anymore. I still like it. Just not what's been coming out. But to say rap isn't music is just asinine. -buy the ticket. take the ride.

RevelationWT
its a load of crap its not hard to ****in rhyme I like your style of music but you've been listening to the wrong junk. I can't imagine a rap fan would defend somebody like Lil' Wayne. Not mentioning the writing of the song, which can be as complicated as the author makes it or as clever as the author makes it. Just rapping anything in any way with any words wouldn't work. I like beat production too. But yeah I agree that singing a rap song at a karaoke hardly requires talent. True the modern scene seems short of true art, but they are out there nonetheless. There are rap songs from the 80's that are still relevant and just as cherished in the rap community as any Beatles tune is to you. Because your social exposure has been limited leaving you unable to relate or understand does not give you the right to dismiss an entire musical genre and art form as "crap". If you are such a devotee of artists such as Dylon, Lennon, and Townsend then you should know that is totally contrary to everything they ever sang about and lived Many of the greatest and most influential artists in music were never huge commercial successes, and the number of records sold says more about their marketing and publicists than it ever does about their musical talent and impact. Turn off the commercial radio and MTV and experience a little bit of life. There is waaay more to music than what you seem open to accepting. Hell even country has its merits.... Dr. Dre has been making music since the early eighties...maby even late 70's. Snoop has been around since the early 90's.....I could go on and on... 2.
