reliquary26
Rank these four match-ups as the most exciting fights for GSP if (but more like when) he moves to middleweight and also your predictions ... 1. GSP VS Demian Maia 2. GSP VS Yushin Okami 3. GSP VS Chael Sonnen 4. GSP VS Vitor Belfort I didn't include Nate because they train out of the same camp and I didn't include Anderson because it's a topic that's been talked about a lot already ... What do people think? P.S - Only be a fantasy at the moment, but I sure would like to see GSP takedown Maia and see what happens on the mat after that ...
Technique
1. GSP VS Demian Maia. I think this would be the most exciting match-up. I think GSP would choose to stand with Maia. Although I still don't see Maia submitting him if he chose to take him down. GSP was never in danger of being submitted against BJ and he is a world class BJJ guy as well. GSP by TKO. 2. GSP VS Vitor Belfort. This would be a great fight. Could go either way. If GSP could get it to the ground. GSP by GNP. If not I think I would give the advantage in power to Belfort and Belfort by TKO. 3. GSP VS Chael Sonnen. Another interesting match-up. Another good wrestler but again GSP has dominated wrestlers so I don't see much difference with this fight. 4. GSP VS Yushin Okami. Same as the Sonnen fight. I believe GSP could win any of these fights. He's highly intelligent and would come in with an excellent game plan. GSP is going to be a force at MW. Hossack
1. GSP VS Demian Maia 2. GSP VS Vitor Belfort 3. GSP VS Yushin Okami 4. GSP VS Chael Sonnen The gound action between Maia and GSP would be fantastic. Rush's ability to pass guard and avoid submissions against the arguably the best BJJ in MMA. SouthWest
1. GSP VS Demian Maia GSP i would guess would come out slow and place a few kick/punches at the start similar to his early hughes fights and then once he took a toll on maia's legs ect he would take him down, gsp would simply work maia till he was gassed and then finish him tko (similar to bj) 2. GSP VS Yushin Okami georges comes out fast and works okami on the ground and wins via tko 3. GSP VS Chael Sonnen i wouldn't really care if this fight ever happens, but once again gsp simply outworks sonnen and wins as with the previous two 4. GSP VS Vitor Belfort potentially a dangerous fight for gsp and the one that i would most want to see. I however don't totally have faith in belforts abilities at this time, we haven't seen him tested since he came back, i have a feeling gsp would break him mentally in the fight. Belfort would be over confident and then once he got hit HARD in the face you would see belforts eyes just fill with pain (ALVES). i would say belfort would have to finish the fight quickly if he has any chance, if it makes it past the first round gsp wins no question

I think other than silva the only other guy at MW that would cause him real problems would be nate the great. Gsp tko's maia, ground and pounds belfort into a tko or unanimous decision, wrestles the hell out of sonnen and okami and finishes them

Even though it would never happen I think the most exciting match-up would be with Nate. Two explosive exciting guys and two of my favorites so I might actually prefer to just keep watching both of them win.

stroud6
gsp won't go to middleweight. They are now watching him oil up and he will be lucky to hold on to his belt in welterweight. Didnt anyone see the interview when he was asked about going to middlweight. He said the fans want him to stay where he is. I dont understand why any guys like this canadian punk. I will say I dont see Hardy beating him.

I know he speaks Frenglish so maybe you didn't understand' date=' but what he said is that he wants to go up to because the fans want him to. You don't understand why people like this Canadian punk? It's because he's humble, respectful and extremely talented and he literally destroys people. That's why !!! Oh and P.S. Im torn because I think Jon Fitch would dominate the division (including Kos and Swick becaus it would have to happen eventually). I dont because I dont want him to tarnish his Legacy. I have a lot of respect for the guy and hope he becomes one of the greatest fighters of all time. I dont want to know who is better between AS, and GSP. They just need to be the best in their divisions, and Im ok with that. AS and Machida is a different story. Im just sayin.
undisputed_rush
something about Matt Serra Or Greasing always comes up when theres a conversation about gsp, even if it's what brand of razor does he use to shave his head so well
TheFergMan
GSP vs MAIA = GSP via tko 2nd round (With no vaseline MAIA might get a sub) GSP vs Sonnen = GSP totally dominates all aspects GSP vs Belfort = GSP isn't big enough and Vitor is way to good of a striker. Nobody credits his BJJ black belt either. = BELFORT 2nd rd KO GSP vs OKAMI = GSP TKO rd 3. Hits him hard on the feet and pounds him out
chosen_st
Please dont compare my post to what stroud6 posted. I do find it comical that when someone references GSP being greased up in that BJ fight people just point out how insane the post is and try to single them out as 'the only one'. Do you really think it had no affect on the fight at all? I'm curious. I don't know how grappling and submissions can be affected by sweat or grease because I've never done it. I've never practiced MMA or any form of MMA, but I consider myself an avid, intelligent, MMA fan just for the sheer number of years I have been following the sport. It's obvious that it happened; as there is countless videos of the fight on the internet, and it's obvious that it affected the UFC; as they changed their rules about corner men applying vaseline inbetween rounds. What I don't understand is why everyone just shrugs it off like it meant nothing. Reminds me of Bill Belichek recording teams practices, and the true Patriot's apologists just shrugged it off saying that everyone does it and it didn't affect the games in any way. I just want to see someone acknowledge it, and not try to erase it from existence like it was some folk lore for insane BJ fans to believe. He'll probably be about 29/30 when he moves up so even if a loss happens (im not saying he will but there is Anderson) he'll have more than enough time to work him way back up for another title shot. I see your point about just staying a WW and defending his belt like 20 times cause no WW on the planet would be able to beat GSP post-Serra and he'd finish his career with a 36-2 record, G O A T
hendo84
I dont see him moving up to be honest but i would like to see how he would fair in maia's gaurd any thoughts on how he would fair against Franklin or Akiyama at 185?
fredshaulage
1. GSP VS Demian Maia...GSP by KO. I doubt he would chance a ground battle with Maia considering the respect GSP has for Maia's BJJ, why bother. 2. GSP VS Yushin Okami...GSP, any way he wants it. 3. GSP VS Chael Sonnen...see above. 4. GSP VS Vitor Belfort...Again with the respect thing. GSP has better stand up than Belfort ( dont argue with me noobs!) and I want to see, with the added muscle/weight, how this will effect his power. GSP has mentioned recently he is unhappy with his KO's and wants more, so this desire may keep it standing. Interesting, but a GSP victory just the same. stroud6
Wow it sure is nice to post an OPINION and not get your head ripped off by a bunch of gsp kool aid drinkers. Again several fighters sherk and hughes included have said that when they fought him he felt "slick". I was just making the commit that now they are watching him closer and he hopefully wont get away with greasing up any more during a fight. I was a little upset and have to admitt that yes gsp is a very dominate champion. I dont see anyone being able to beat him in the near future so yes I was wrong to say he will be lucky to keep his belt. I also said that I dont see hardy beating him. You know sometimes you just want to like the champion. Not worship or just look over major personality flaws. Just like him. Say to yourself this is a nice decent guy. I dont get that from gsp. I think (opinion) that he is not a nice guy. I would not want to hang around him. I also dont like lesner. I think he is a jerk. On the opposite end you have guys like couture and henderson that seem like just really nice guys. Not trying to start a fight or make any friends. Just wanted to post an opinon on gsp I dont hate him but I do think he looks down his nose at a lot of us. As far a racims goes it was gsp that said at least he is a north american champion not a south american champion. That is paraphrased I dont remember the exact quote. One more thing it was gsp that said the fans did not want him to go to mw. Dont get mad at me about what he said. Take that up with gsp. I do not see him wanting to fight silva stroud6
