They're not proclaiming that he's the GOAT or any such nonsense, they're simply stating that he's extremely well liked former champion and from the way the crowd reacts to him and the respect he's given by other fighters I think they're right.

 

Even if you don't like Couture's fighting style or believe he's that great it's difficult to dislike the man. He's an incredibly humble, hard working, respectful, classy fighter who is an excellent ambassador for MMA.

How would you measure it. Brock Lesner has sold more PPV per fight Chuck has 22 UFC fights Randy 21. I say you start a poll on who the fans like to watch fight the most.

You're just stating numbers.

Look at the intangibles. No one is saying he is the best by any measure, but he's a humble, all around classy guy. This is exactly what the fans love about him. Watch his fight with Tim Sylvia and hear the chanting if you don't believe me.

Top Contenders? Brandon Vera is hardly a top contender thats why that fight was FREE. Randy would be destroyed if he fought any number of top contenders such as Rashad/Shogun/Thiago Silva/Jon Jones Even the guy who debuted tonight Phil Davis.Randy is old and has how many fights left on his contract? they'll give him easy win fights so that he can retire as the " Most Beloved Champion Ever "

With all the trash talking, I cant imagine anyone who doesn't like Randy for Randy. You said it all in your last sentence. He is a wonderful person, and a well-deserving Champion. At his age, tell me you can guarantee any other fighter will be in his condition? He is very respectful towards his opponents, unlike so many others who have to run their mouths and talk trash. I guess they feel that makes them look baaadddd, and I am glad Randy has enough confidence in himself to not feel he needs to do that. He trains hard for his fights, and wins them...fair and square, like it or not. He could certainly retire as one of the greatest UFC fighters of all times, but fighting is in his blood. IMO, he has the heart of a lion, and obviously can defend that heart. I believe he is the most well liked fighter in a long time, and certainly always has the support of the crowd. If he is just an 'old man with rogaine and goldilocks' as was stated, WHY is he the idol of so many? He is MY idol, and I wish that some of these smart axxx that talk so much trash would learn a little from him. He is a great guy, a great fighter, and yes, probably the best ambassador for this sport.

Well said, actually. I'm not a fan of Randy but I respect him. I just think he is a bit overrated.
